It is growing on me, I'm really impressed at the gritty, cable series show feel. Man, that kid is ripped! I really want to see what they do with his character, now that he has fallen from grace. I hated Studio 60, so I'm glad to have something good following Heroes.

I really enjoy this show and I love it. An extremely sad scene when Joey Ice Cream was speaking, saying that tommy and Jenny cannot really be together. I really want Jenny and Tommy to be together. The cost of Jimmy walking....hmm.

i'm really enjoying it so far.... but i was shocked yesterday when the girl had sex with tommy and then said they can't be together... BAH!

StefaPie, I def. agree with what everyone is saying about the way in which Icecream is a "classic unreliable narrator." I sort of think of him as a modern version of the governess in
    The Turn of the Screw
      ; the idea that we may find out that lost of things he describes never happened intrigued me. I'm also curious as to what Icecream is hiding... it definitely seems like he's trying to throw the police off the trail of whatever they're investigating by telling them his stories. I find the whole "frame narrative" thing really interesting, particularly because the withholding of critical information in the frame--what the investigators are trying to get out of Icecream and how exactly he ended up in jail--prevents us from knowing what exactly to make of all of the stuff we learn about the Donnelly's in the story. [yeah--I'm a big genre nerd.]

Its a good show but its definatly not for everyone. Its a little violent but I like the show and I think it will last. And Molly, you are so right about Johnathan Tucker. Did you see him in his tighty whities too? But there is something about his face that bothers me...he has a weird mouth or something.

eBennet - I agree about thinking he might be a sociopath. Like, "Oh, he's the good boy...he's an artist...he's beating a dead guy to a pulp...okay!" The MSN tv guy said something about Ice Cream being completely unreliable, kind of hinting that there may be a time where we find out that most of the stuff isn't true.

i'm watching it, but i really miss my studio 60 fix on mondays! i'm not sure if i will keep watching it or not...but for the moment it has intrigued me enough to watch it again next week.

I'm boycotting it because I'd rather watch Studio 60...the Aaron Sorkin show that used to be in the same time slot... :(

I am watching "The Black Donnellys," and I am really enjoying it. I think the pilot was surprisingly engaging for a pilot and I like how the second episode picked up right where the pilot ended. I am a fan of TV moves like that. Re the narrator: On the one hand, I love how the 'Ice Cream' character is a classic unreliable narrator - it cracks me up to see him suddenly appear in situations and for other characters to go "wait, why are you even here?" - on the other hand, that technique is going to get old quickly and I hope they find a way around it. Kind of like how "How I Met Your Mother" used to open every episode with those bored-looking kids sitting on the couch getting another story from dad, before the show decided that the device didn't have to be so overt. There is certainly a lot of violence for network TV, which surprised me. The one thing that I think is a little off about the show is how quickly Tommy Donnelly, who supposedly has remained aloof from the whole mob-life thing, has become accustomed to some pretty extreme acts of violence. I mean, I get that he grew up in this environment and is probably a bit desensitized, but there were some points during the first two episodes where I found myself wondering if he was a sociopath or something. Still, I am enjoying the show and I plan to keep watching. So far, interesting story and characters and it doesn't hurt that there are lots of attractive-looking people. Its like "The OC" went mob.

I won't watch it because they kicked Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip off the air for it. :(

I've seen the two episodes, and maybe I'm desensitized, but it was so boring! Where's the story, and I really don't mean that annoying narrator. Every 15 minutes felt like the dramatic conclusion, but no, there's something MORE dramatic than lighting the van on fire and staring poignantly into the flames. There seemed to be no buildup at all, just "look what he's doing now!". I thought it was going to be about this kid fighting against getting involved in the gang, but at this point he's SOL. I just can't get invested in a show that seems to just want to shock me with what they can get on TV. Oh, and a narrator side note, nice having him pop into the scene for no reason, great way to get around "but how does he know?", just make him omniscient and don't address it.

Molly - I so agree Jonathan Tucker is way cut - I was like Whoa myself! That is advertisement enough to watch!!!

I like the show, but the lighting bugs me, it gets so dark its hard to tell whats going on... But that seen with Jonathan was hot in a weird way..haha

But seriously, I'm enjoying the show--I'm also a fan of the Godfather films, too, and some aspects of the show remind me of them without outright copying the films. I had *no idea* Jonathan Tucker was so ripped--it is nice how he's still pretty lean so he doesn't have that muscle-bound-meathead-no-neck-monster thing going on; I *hate* that.

Oh, and that who-ray when she was all "Thanks for coming by and doing me...and telling me you loved me, too...but...uh...I can't be with you now." That irritated me and I think I would end up *yelling* at her a lot.

I don't know. It made me sick last night. Seriously, when he was beating that guy with the sledgehammer, I was like, "That's enough of that!" Are they going to have new episodes while Heroes is on break?
