Bravo's The Fashion Show isn't Project Runway, but for at least the first few episodes, I imagine I'll be constantly comparing the two in my mind. The show premieres tonight, and the format will be pretty familiar to ProjRun fans: a bunch of aspiring designers go through various fashion-related challenges, hoping to win the chance for their line to be sold in stores.
Besides the name, there definitely are a few differences between this show and Runway: Each show has two challenges, Top Chef-style; the audience at each episode's runway show has a say in who goes home; and in the end, viewers will determine the ultimate champion. Isaac Mizrahi is a host and mentor, alongside Kelly Rowland and fashion industry veteran Fern Mallis.
I'm curious to see this show tonight, and I'm hoping it will rise above the level of Runway ripoff. What about you — will you watch?

I'm not the biggest Isaac fan but I'll give it a try.
1I'll probably TIVO it and see if I like it. There's nothing else I watch in that slot.
2Why is poor Kelly so badly airbrushed?
3Unless my converter box gets this channel i don't think i can watch it....lol.
4I watched it and liked it.
5I watched it and liked it a lot better than PR: It's not as clautrophobic and insular in the judging and runway shows. The shows have more energy. Isaac is tough but shrewd, Kelly is cute, Fern is solid. The fashion industry people give it authenticity. This is a hit.
6I found it painful to watch. It's obvious that's there's not much interaction between the hosts and the contestants and that Kelly does not know much about fashion design. And the contestants .... wow.
7It's baaaaaad.
You had me at "Fern Mallis."
8I lost all respect for Mizrahi when he started designing for Target.
9I watched 10 minutes and was done with it
10I don't know how Kelly fits into it but I love Bravo reality game shows, so I recorded it on dvr.
11I watched a few minutes at the beginning and came back to watch a few minutes at the end. I don't like it. All of the Bravo reality competitions follow the same format and that's part of the reason they are so successful. I think this one strays too far from the path. I don't plan on coming back to watch anymore.
12I don't really like isaac mizrahi's cocky-ness but i'll tune in when there's a re-run and nothing else is on.
13I am watching. I love to see how designers work. Im glad Kelly is on the show. Issac if going to be interesting to watch.
14i don't understand why kelly rowland is on the show. i watched it, and i think i'll give it a chance b/c there are actually interesting designers (james-paul and merlin) yet also the annoying, b!tchy one (daniella? i think that's her name-the 22 yr old on merlin's team who kept rolling her eyes when they announced the winner of the 1st fashion show). i can't imagine what project runway would be like on lifetime (but i only like that show for tim gunn and heidi klum) - so we'll see.
15Kelly Rowland saying she has been to a lot of fashion shows as a way of justifying her place in this off the rack show, is akin to me saying I watch alot of ER so give me a scalpel and hop up on the table. It's poor casting. Now replace her with Grace Jones and I'll be stuck to the set on Thursdays. The show is missing something that PR has, I just can't put my finger on it...it's kind of depressing is all I can come up with. Flat maybe.
16Hopefully I'll figure out where the Lifetime channel is before August.
I was a BIT disappointment yesterday when RECO was the one to get vote off you and the people know that JOHN PAUL fashions was not on the market for sale for an America person to wear, the material was heavy too too many layers, how could you find how to put on his garment. I was a fan until the end I as a fan WAS VERY DISAPPOINTMENT IN YOU ALL AS FASHIONS DESIGNERS AND AS FASHION CRICTICS.
