Would You Get With Seth Rogen?

One of my (very few!) beefs with Knocked Up was that it didn't seem like Allison (Katherine Heigl) and Ben (Seth Rogen) were really all that into each other.

Cinematical (by way of Hollywood Elsewhere) has put things a little more bluntly: Would someone who looks like Allison actually get with someone who looks like Ben? Allison's character is not shallow or judgmental, but what she actually likes about Ben is unclear. And if we're going on looks alone, well, her sexiness factor is simply higher than his.

So, what about you?

i just saw knocked up and completely found seth (the actor) adorable. i think the character had some redeeming factors like how he gave up beer, lol, and was completely there for her the whole time, which he could have said no way woman!

I don't think it had anything to do with him being cute or not cute. For me, I didn't see how she could fall in LOVE with him so quickly, when he didn't really have any redeeming qualities at that point. He was a pot head slacker. The only thing she knew was that he could be funny. Is that enough to say "I love you", in just a few short weeks? Looks didn't play into it as much as lifestyle, at least for me!

Just want to add--my Husband could be considered "cute", "average" by some people's taste, but to me he is absolutely gorgeous. The more years that go by, he just gets better and better. I don't think I could be more in love with him, and wouldn't change a damn thing.

PUH-LEEZE. He's cute! And sorry--but she is not that hot! I find her a little more on the average Jane side who looks good spiffed up rather than a genuine knock out. So their coupling makes sense to me. Besides I don't like Brad Pitt pretty boys. Yeach. The so called "average" guys are the ones more likely to make you happy for the rest of your life, be a loving partner, great Dad. If you pass up a cute "average" guy to go for the super hottie--because he's hotter--you are a shallow idiot.

Judd Apatow's wife is Leslie Mann, the woman who played Paul Rudd's wife in the movie. Soooo...I guess he knows about schlubby guys getting with gorgeous women!

I think its really shallow to think of it as a looks only thing. I know many pretty women who are with, I suppose average looking men, but thats not what its all about. I think the bigger issue is that he's a stoner and a slacker, lol. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing this yet, but by the sounds of it, they aren't that into each other, they find themselves compelled to give it the old college try due to the fact she's knocked up.

Well, considering this movie was written and directed by the guy who did the 40 year old virgin and Freeks and Geeks, it's not surprising that it involves an average guy getting a hot girl. And personally, as an average guy myself, I have to say, why must people rain on our parade? It gives guys like us hope! :)

i think the actor is cute, but his character ben was too immature. although i do agree with buzz about the lack of chemistry. i think they just enjoy their company together, rather then the whole passionate relationship thing.

Here is a link that ponders the whole "hot girl/okay-looking guy" scenario that so many TVs and movies seem to be using these days. The article, written by a woman, seems to think that these movies and TVs are causing the "schlubby" guys to set their standards higher and overlook us nice and normal-looking girls. Yeah, I would. Actually, my boyfriend reminds me of him... a little chubby, very scruffy, but super-sweet and hilarious. Now, would I get with his character? I don't know. Ben was such a loser in the beginning.

To be honest, after I saw this movie I went out over the weekend and I was looking at "average-looking" guys in a different light. As long as they have more good points than bad, then they aren't all that bad. And this is coming from someone with high standards too!
