Of those listed, Penelope would be good. But I think someone different, like maybe Catalina Sandino Moreno, would be better.

I say Eva or Penelope- Eva being my first choice.

I don't think I've seen a single movie that Eva has been in, so I don't know about her. Absolutely NOT J-Lo, though. The woman CANNOT ACT. Penelope might be okay. I'm not a big fan of hers but everyone tells me that'll change when I finally see Volver.

JLO FTW, haters! this could totally take her back to the good ole days of karen cisco when she could actually act and was in good movies... except she'd be BAD which would make her all the more fabulous. penny and eva are too soft--you need a badass lady to pull this kind of thing off.

I like the idea of Mia Maestro (The Motorcycle Diaries, Nadia on Alias) or Elizabeth Pena.

Of these three, Penelope gets my vote. J-Lo does have some talent, but this role just doesn't seem to fit.

Penelope Cruz could pull off this role. I can picture her bringing her darker-side out for this role. Besides, if she played the lead role, I'd watch it. I can't picture Jennifer and Eva playing that role; I like them in comedies and maybe a few dramas however I can't imagine either one a a drug kingpin.

Selma Hayek

Jennifer would be too distracting in the movies; in other words would not make it believable. Eva--seen her in The Mexican and Hitch; and I'll tell you this the girl is ackward too watch act on screen. yeah she's pretty but she needs to take acting lessons. Wich leaves me to Penelope, now this girl can act. She played a coke-addict and is the wife of a coke dealer/smuggler (Johnny Depp) and was great. So if they do cast her, then this movie might have a chance of getting critical acclaim.

I'm not a fan, but I think Michelle Rodriguez might be good for this. Sounds like a great movie! Girl power.

Eva would be good from these choices.

None of those ladies make me want to watch the film. It's obviously not easy to fill Al Pacino's shoes, they really need to find someone special.

Penelope could easily do it- she was great in Blow. Salma Hayek could do it if she plans on getting back to work soon after baby.

You might be right on that figurine, but I think the reason why were saying Penelope has what it takes to do this role is because of her role in Blow.

I understand what you mean, but I just don't think she's edgy enough for this role. That's of course something she can work on, but nah, I just can't picture it. Out of the three she is definitely the best choice, though.

I'm not a fan of M.R., but I think she'd nail the part perfectly.

i would want to see salma hayek, j.lo cannot act for beans, and eva was not convincing of a bad cop in once upon a time in mexico...she's horrible.

Penelope from that list. JLo? I would never want to willingly see her in any movie. She's totally overrated.

Penelope's accent does not sound Mexican. Her Spanish is too European. Just like the accent from the islands (Cuba and Puerto Rico) has it's own sound. A good Mexican accent sounds completely different.
J-Lo wouldn't be bad but I'm kinda sick of her.

you know, i voted for penelope thinking she was the only one with the acting chops (one of my FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME is Jamon Jamon, a Spanish film she made when she was like 16), but krampalicious is making me remember jlo in out of sight. i'm open to an acting comeback. she's the b*tch's b*tch after all!

I voted for J.Lo because I KNOW how convincing she can be at playing angry and gansta. But I'd love to see Eva get a role like that. I think it'd be great to see her lead a movie instead of just being the female sidekick or love interest. And to do something a little less comedic.

Also, what about Salma???? Since none of the other ladies up there are Mexican, as the part calls for. It would be a great comeback for her after her child is born. And I think she can do anything.

When is Hollywood going to stop trying to "remake" the classics and realize they can never do it right the second time around. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Dukes of Hazard", and "Godzilla" come to mind for starters. The original "Scarface" is a great movie, a CLASSIC. Without even having to see a trailer for it, it's easy to see the pattern this movie is going to go through (like so many before it). You'll see a trailer (showing all the action). Critics get paid to give it a great review. Does well the opening weekend. Word of mouth gets around that the movie is basically 2+ hours of your life you'll never get back. Then it will drop into the depths of the bargain bin at your local supermarket. I for one have stopped supporting Hollywood in all these flops they like to mass produce. Hopefully one day they will find some writers and go back to making movies like they did before (as in the original Scarface).

Okay, I am torn. I think J-Lo would be good in this movie...also Eva could play the part too. But someone made the comment about Selma Hyack and I agree with that also. Just hope it is someone good who will do the part justice.

I think Halle Berry could pull it off. She has the cross over look and considering how she played the 007 movie I think she could really turn this up as well.
