As nice as it is to root for heroes in movies, it's always devilish good fun to meet the villains (and sometimes root for them too). This year, we had the diabolical (Christopher Waltz), the demonic (Megan Fox), and the ridiculously funny (Ken Jeong). Yeah, I would see Hans Landa not winning over the Volturi as a slap in all that it is sane and rationale.
Mark Strong from Sherlock Holmes tops Christoph Waltz in my mind. Satanist Lord vs Nazi. Killing jews is one thing, but performing satanic murders/rituals, faking you own death, "rising" from the grave AND taking over the British Empire is really badass especially in Victorian London.
Hans Landa was the best villian of the decade if I have anything to say about it. His character was more gripping then the Joker... the entire audience gasped when he casually appeared in at a fancy french resturaunt to ask a few simple questions... that's not a reaction that can be gained so easily. To the dismay of the main characters, he was fleuent in English, French, German, and Italian within the film... educated villains are the worst (in this case, the best). The Volturi? I guess it's because they're in Twilight huh? If a character named "turd buiscut" was in a poll called "most original characters", turd buiscut would probably win... I hate how shallow these results are.
I've seen every film mentioned in this list... the winner is Hans Landa. The character is both diabolically evil, while being a adorable gentleman at the same time. He switches from pleasureable to terrifying in just a few frames. Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor all across the board. Hans Landa is the best movie villain of 2009... the people on this site just got mixed up, confused "best" with "most popular" which panders to the Twilight fangirls who enjoy watching shirtless men instead of an actual plotline...

Why on earth is the Volturi getting so many votes? As I have seen from New Moon (both book and movie), all they do is sit in their little 'clubhouse' day in and day out, lure in tourist for supper and kill other 'betraying' vampires in the most ridiculous ways. I don't see anything villian-ish about that, and by the way, Aro's laugh was annoying...... I voted for Charles Muntz from Up. The reason? He may be an old, old man, but he still can kick some butt, at least, he's more kickass than the Volturi, anyway...... =D
Landa is the sort of villain who comes around once a decade. He's charming, charismatic, intelligent, yet utterly ruthless. And *SPOILER ALERT* not only does he hunt down the Jews hiding in France like it was a sport, he's willing to betray his own country for his own selfish reasons. If ruthlessly ordering Jews shot to death hiding underneath the floorboards then later allowing for the entire German high command to be roasted in exchange for a house on Nantucket Island, a Congressional Medal of honor, and the status of an American war hero isn't evil, then I don't know what is.
I wish Helena Bonham-Carter is also on the list, portraying Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

WORST.POLL RESULTS.EVER. Really? The Volturi are more villainous than Landa? It's nice to know that people are more afraid of sparkly vampires that sit around and do nothing than someone called "The Jew Hunter" and actually...you know...does something.

Hans Landa, hands down. How on Earth could he be losing to a bunch of faux-vamps who did nothing but glare, mumble, and giggle at their enemies? When I went to go see Inglorious Basterds, everyone was talking about how amazing the actor who played Col. Landa was and I seriously got chills when he was on screen. Out of all the actors listed above, he's the only one I can see earning an Oscar nod.

How on the name of all that is good and holy is the Volturi winning over Col. Landa? They didn't even do anything except just sit and glare at people (or in Michael Sheen's case, get ridiculously giddy over nothing). At the few screenings of Basterds I got to see with a full audience, they freaked the hell out when he re-appeared in Chapter 3. Tarantino didn't use the rape theme from The Entity for nothing.

Hans Lander. Great performance. He was very chilling and just evil. Must get an Oscar nod. My second would be Nero :) if you read the comic that was a precursor to the movie you understand more of his pain.
