There have been some pretty classic showdowns in my day — Bush vs. Gore, Jordin vs. Blake, Stewart vs. Colbert. But none have quite compared to this. Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross is taking on the crucial question for all fans of '80s teen comedies: Which is better: Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles?
In the mind of Ross, the answer's simple: Sixteen Candles wins hands-down, largely on the strengths of Jake Ryan, Anthony Michael Hall, and "that freaky dwarf lady from Poltergeist." But he also believes that guys drift toward the goofiness of Sixteen Candles, while women prefer the more romantic Pretty in Pink.
So, dear Buzz readers, where do you fall on this weighty question? And no, both is not an option. What, you thought I was going to make this easy for you?

The Breakfast Club!
1Sixteen Candles is my all-time favorite movie!!
2Sixteen candles! Why isn't the Breakfast Club not a choice.
3Pretty in Pink!!! Duckie and Iona are enough to carry the whole film!
4Best teen movie of the 80s is "Just One Of The Guys." Hands down.
5MarcDom, my husband loves "Just one of the Guys". I had never seen it until he made me watch it. My favorite is Sixteen candles.
6Pretty in Pink!!! I can watch that movie every single day!!!
7though of the two i prefer sixteen candles, The Breakfast Clun definately rules all
8oops! i mean The Breakfast Club
9Neither! Its the Breakfast Club!
10I love both equally!
If Breakfast Club were an option, that would get my vote.
11Don't make me choose between Andrew Mccarthy and Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling?) I love both movies, but I'd have to say my favorite 80s movie is Mannequin.
12Breakfast Club !!!!
13wow that's a tough one...I remember watching both, but I'm pretty sure Pretty In Pink got played more...
14Sixteen Candles is on one of the Cinemax channels right now.
15i chose sixteen candles
but i love ferris bueller's day off!
16Absolutely the Breakfast Club!
17Yep, Jake Ryan! He's so dreamy!
18Pretty in Pink, seriously - Blane and Duckie - the computer trick, the lip-syncing, the all-time best teen angst kiss in the rain and one of the all time best soundtracks (i actually had it on an LP)!!! - But nothing would beat a John Hughes box-set: Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, and Some Kind of Wonderful!!!!!
19For me it would be "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Between these two though I'd choose "Sixteen Candles".
20This is a hard choice because I love them both. Jake was so good to look at but Duckie stole the show in pretty in pink. I just can't choose. I am not good at decisions especially when they both so good.
21My choice is other. Breakfast Club wins hands down.
22The Breakfast Club. It's the ultimate
23I prefer the Breakfast Club. But out of these two, I'm a fan of Sixteen Candles. I didn't like how Pretty In Pink ended - she should've ended up with Duckie, not stupid boring Blaine.
24From the two, I choose Sixteen Candles. I'm in the minority here, but Duckie bothered the hell out of me!
25lol... Sixteen Candles. Long Duck Dong is my favorite character. "No more yanky my wanky"
26st elmo's fire!
27I love Pretty In Pink. And I've watched Breakfast Club so much I have it memorized. Sixteen Candles is awesome, too. Molly Ringwald ruled the '80s!
28Pretty in Pink.
:D
29Sixteen Candles! It's funnier and hello, there's Jake Ryan.
30My favorite "teen-ish" 80's movies are Back to the Future. The Goonies is a close contender, but I am guessing that would have been considered more of a "tween" movie. I have to agree that, as far as Molly Ringwald goes, The Breakfast Club was the best of her movies.
31Oops, are Back to the Future both 1 & 2.
32Schnitzel, sorry about my 3 comments in a row but I just remembered the King of all 80's flicks, I mean the ULTIMATE is Fast Times at Ridgemont High!! I could watch this 10 times a year and never tire of it.
33Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are my favorite 80's movies!
"Wuzzz happenin' hot stuff?"
34Dollymama, I agree. Fast times is the best!
35Yeah! why isnt Breakfast club a choice? I love that movie
36Pretty In Pink. I love them both so much, so I had to base the vote on with one I watch more often (and that was Pink.) Although I think The Breakfast Club is the king of all high school and 80's films.
37The Breakfast Club!!!
38Of the two choices, Sixteen Candles for sure. Best 80s film however, will always be The Breakfast Club.
39A better choice would have been Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club. I wouldn't be able to choose with those 2 flix. I miss the 80's.
40The Breakfast Club is such a classic!!
41I can't choose! LOL! I love both! Man, Molly Ringwald and the 80's crew were THE BEST!!
42Thats a hard one because both cult films were awesome!
43Pretty and Pink is one of my favorite movies of all time.
44Pretty and Pink is one of my favorite movies of all time.
45I love both movies but i like Sixteen Candles more! And yes the Breakfast Club is really good also!
4616 candles is funny-but i loveeeee andrew mccarthy circa 1983 so i always will go with pretty in pink. in fact..he was too cute in st. elmo's fire as well
47ok apparently i had the year wrong--i love andrew mccarthy circa 1986
for some reason i always thought pretty in pink came out that year-- imdb.com said otherwise. oh twells
48Sixteen Candles, Duckie actually annoyed me.
49Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. They don't make movies like that anymore.
