What's Buzzworthy: Wedding and Marriage Novels

What with this being wedding season and all — and with the dawn of this summer's TV series "The Starter Wife," which is based on a novel — I challenged you to Buzzworthy novels about weddings and marriage, titling them wedding books. Weddings certainly seem to be easy fodder for stories because they're so emotional — and because there are many things that can go hilariously awry. Here are the books Buzz readers picked:

Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella

Clearly a popular choice, this title was bookmarked by 5 readers! missyosigirl and Pink_Lipstick picked it, along with gruaig_rua who says: "I adore anything this woman writes!! Laugh out loud funny!"

shafiii says, "This book is the a bride's worst nightmare, when shes caught between her mother and mother-in-law. If you want a funny wedding book that will hold you till the end, this is the one. Shopaholic Ties the Knot will always be my favorite."

And woodycakes claims, "If you think your wedding was difficult to plan, go read this and feel so much better — and get a great laugh too!"

Maneater

This title was chosen by woodycakes, who writes: "Before writing The Starter Wife, Gigi Levangie Grazer wrote this hilarious take on how Clarissa Alpert, LA's 'It Girl' finally gets over her singlehood and decides she's got to be married... This book will make sure we get to know the man we marry or plan on marrying before doing anything on impulse. This book was really easy and fun to read. I couldn't put it down from the moment I met Clarissa."

The Age of Innocence

This classic was picked by Fab_Kitty, and I think it's a really cool, interesting choice. Older novels show us that these issues surrounding marriage are truly age-old. Fab_Kitty says, "Wharton won the Pulitzer prize for this novel that explores the tensions between the desire for respectable security and the hunger for individualistic love."

Always the Bridesmaid

Scorpgirl11 bookmarked this title, which references that old saying "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride."

Isobel's Wedding was chosen by gruaig_rua.
