The Author of Big Little Lies Has 3 More Adaptations on the Horizon — and Reese and Nicole Are Involved in 1

HBO's murderous drama Big Little Lies took over our lives earlier this year, and is back in it after all its well-deserved Emmy wins. It's based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, and it's one of the most exciting new TV shows of 2017. With so much power behind the adaptation, it's logical to wonder if any of Moriarty's other seven novels are being brought to life anytime soon. And, well, we have good news.

What Alice Forgot

What Alice Forgot

One of Moriarty's more well-known novels, What Alice Forgot was optioned for a movie deal back in July 2014. David Frankel, the director behind The Devil Wears Prada, was signed on the tackle the film. Frankel has since dropped out, but Jennifer Aniston was in talks to play the lead in October 2015. Unfortunately, there have been no updates regarding the film since. But hey, if Big Little Lies is a hit, maybe this one will come back out of the woodwork.

The Husband's Secret
HBO

The Husband's Secret

The Husband's Secret was released in Summer 2013, and it was quickly snatched up for an adaptation by CBS Films. Unfortunately, those are the only details we've got about the film so far. Hopefully things are moving along behind the scenes.

Truly, Madly, Guilty
HBO

Truly, Madly, Guilty

The freshest book-to-film adaptation comes in the form of Truly, Madly, Guilty. The book itself is very new, having only been published in July 2016. The rights were snagged by Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon's production companies, which are expected to partner on the project. This bodes quite well, since the two women not only star in Big Little Lies, but were also on the project as producers.
