Over the weekend, I was hanging out with friends when David Bowie's "Young Americans" hit the jukebox and, of course, everyone started singing along. It suddenly struck me that that song would probably be awesome to hear live, and that I bet Bowie gives a fantastic live performance. I started thinking of other musicians I'd love to check out in concert — including those whom I'll never get the chance to see.
Of the musicians from days gone by, of course, it would have been a thrill to see the Beatles live. I would have truly loved to have seen Johnny Cash in person, and would have given pretty much anything to have seen Louis Armstrong live (actually, there's some great footage of these two performing together, check it out after the jump). In the land of the living, I hope to someday get to an Estelle concert, and though this might seem lame to some of you, I'd jump at the chance to see The Police in concert.
I'll stop there so you can weigh in. Who do you hope to see someday? Who do you wish you could have seen, once upon a time? To check out the Louis Armstrong/Johnny Cash video and add your thoughts, read more.

Rimmel
I was at an Arcade Fire concert a few years ago and at the end David Bowie jumped out and sang "Wake Up" with them. I had no idea he was there!
1I would love to see Queen live! I recently became obsessed with their songs and I love them
2I always love seeing John Mayer. I'd love to see Bob Dylan too.
3The Velvet Underground, circa 1967-1970.
4the Clash
5Such an obvious answer, but the Beatles. I used to (literally) have dreams about traveling back to the early 60s and seeing them at the Cavern Club before they hit it big in the US.
As for still living musical acts, I've been fortunate to have seen most of my favorites live at least once, but I regret not seeing the Strokes while they were still playing decently sized venues. I'd also really love to see Mark Ronson perform with the Dap-Kings and his bevvy of guest vocalists, particularly Alex Greenwald.
6david bowie does give a great show. i've seen him a few times.
anyway, off of the top of my head i'd like to see the beatles and cat stevens.
7NIRVANA!!! That's the one band I would love to see in concert that I will never get to see. R.I.P. Kurt Cobain
I also wish I could watch:
8Aerosmith
Queen (the original w/ Freddie Mercury)
Coldplay
Kanye West
Madonna
Lifehouse
Phil Collins
Prince
David Bowie would be awesome to watch too
9& Mark Ronson is spectacular, I was bummed I missed him and Prince at Coachella.
Leonard Cohen.

14I would give up my first child to see David Bowie live. I swear I'm going to find him one day and marry him. I love him and his music.
15This has always been "my question" that I ask everyone I meet and you get some pretty interesting answers. My answer is Bob Marley, he seemed to have been such a passionate performer. A close second would be The Doors and Miles Davis.
16The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Billie Holiday
Living: Prince, a reunited classic-era Fleetwood Mac
17Amending my last post to include Hendrix.
18the beatles!

20there are so many to name!
21one that comes to mind is nina simone.
Oh We're have LONG talks about this! Sublime, the beatles, the doors, QUEEN!!!, Joe Strummer (either as the clash or the pogues), and my number one is the ORIGINAL misfits. With jerry only and danzig in particular. Any drummer. Doyle preferably.
22Mark Ronson was GREAT at coachella. I was so unimpressed with Prince and his late ass that we left. The Rolling Stones we saw a couple years ago and they were AMAZING! put on a great show even at their tender old age haha
It would be Nirvana and Edith Piaf opening for Queen. It would be bliss to hear "Bohemian Rhapsody" live- omgosh I could melt. That would be the best concert evarrrrrrr!
And also, I really want to watch Something Corporate again. They broke up a few years ago and I was blessed with a surprise performance at the 2006 Bamboozleleft. I'm rambling.. I love them!
23Pantera! I became a fan of theirs a year after they broke up. I kept hoping they would get back together but when Dimebag was killed I knew it would never happen. : c r y :
Apart from that: Metallica, Skid Row, Pearl Jam, En Vogue, John Mayer, and Slipknot
24i would give anything to see queen perform...of course, RIP freddie mercury...but his live performance skills were...i can't even say. i wish i could've seen them.
25Wham!
26Queen- with Freddie Mercury
Nirvana- RIP Kurt
The early Pink Floyd with Roger Waters included
Sublime-RIP Bradley
The Doors- My parents almost saw them in concert. The first night they went to the show and while the rest of the band was in Sacramento, Jim was still in L.A. When they finally got Jim to Sacramento he proceeded to moon the audience and then spout profanities at them for arresting him.
Madonna
27Jimi Hendrix
INXS with Michael Hutchence
Johnny Cash
Bob Dylan
David Bowie
The Smiths
The Stone Roses
281. The Goo Goo Dolls
2. Jack's Mannequin {Both tie for my favorite group. Their music just speaks to me. Johnny Rzeznik and Andrew McMahon are two wonderful songwriters.}
Others that would be amazing:
29Led Zeppelin (During their prime years.)
Madonna (This day in age, to hear all the hits.)
The Who (also during prime.)
Aerosmith. Circa late 80's or mid 90's.
Eve 6
Sugarland
How could I forget David Bowie and INXS w/ Hutchence; I love their music.
30I saw U2, the Crystal Castles, Coldplay, Bowie and Arcade Fire so I think I can pretty much die happy.
However I'd give my boss away to see Kent, the Killers, the Scissor Sisters, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, and of course INXS with Michael Hutchence.
31Queen with Freddie Mercury, definitely. Beatles, Michael Jackson in his prime, Eva Cassidy.
32David Bowie
33ABBA
Radiohead
Nirvana
The Who
The Beatles
Stevie Wonder
The Eagles
34Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Beatles . . . . omg that would be sweet.
I would also LOVE to see Jack's Mannequin!
35I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have seen Marvin Gaye perform live. My mother saw him six times and to this day, says no one can touch him.
On the flip side, when I was a kid, I was obsessed with the movie Amadeus...so Mozart would be on my dream list too!
BTW, how awesome is that clip od Armstrong and Cash? Goosebumps.
36The Beatles for me.
37Queen
38Ella Fitzgerald
Johnny Cash
Memphis Minnie!!
39Billie Holiday
David Bowie
ABBA
Radiohead
The Beatles
Stevie Wonder
Beethoven or Mozart
Cher
and Britney
40The Beatles...hands down, at any of their many phases. They were just phenomenal.
41Actually, I've really been meaning to catch Franz Ferdinand and The Hives in concert but they rarely tour in the U.S. and even less likely near where I live.
42Led Zep of course the early years.
Sex Pistols
Queen
the Who -early years
the Bee Gees
Michael Jackson-Before he was abducted by aliens and replaced with a clone that is melting before our eyes
43Nirvana, Sublime and Rage Against the Machine!!

45Queen
The Ramones

The Who
Roy Orbison
Queen
Pink Floyd
I could go on and on...
Jeff Buckley, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Jenny Lewis/ Rilo Kiley, John Legend and Corinne Bailey Rae
47Janis Joplin.
48I'd LOVE to see Judy Garland live, and at different stages in her career. Say, when she was a fresh young starlet, and then older after she left hollywood. To hear Over the Rainbow at such different points in her life would be at once mesmerizing and heartbreaking.
49i got to see one of bowie's last shows at MSG and it was fantastic!!!!!
it would be something i would see again in a heartbeat.
50however... if i had to pick one concert to see it would have to be nirvana. the inner 13 year old girl in me will forever be depressed that i never did.
