What Do You Think About the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy?

Ricky Gervais won this year's Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy! He beat out Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin, Tony Shalhoub and Charlie Sheen. What do you think of this?

Agreed! I like Steve but The Office just is not funny.

Buzz, do you know which Extras episode was submitted on behalf of Gervais? I was hoping he would win and the ep. I had stuck in my mind for why he deserved the Emmy was the episode w/ David Bowie. So painfully funny!

Extras is seriously hilarious. A lot of people just haven't seen it. If they had, they would understand!

alec baldwin totally deserved to win. extras looked funny and all, but alec carries 30 rock, so he should've gotten some recognition. i'd have been ok with tony shalhoub, too...i love monk and he's absolutely brilliant on the show.

This one was tough because I was rooting for everyone in this category except for Charlie Sheen. Also, I've heard Gervais is kind of an a**, so I would have preferred to see Steve Carell, Tony Shalhoub, or Alec Baldwin win in this category. I do like Extras though.

I'm in the Steve Carrell camp... he should have won the award, not just 'accepted' :) it for Gervais.

It was the last season of Extras, so I'm glad Ricky won. Steve Carrell will have more chances in the future.

i wanted steve to win, but extras is HILARIOUS. and ricky is fantastic in it, so i think he deserved it.

Charlie Sheen? Are you kidding me? That's not acting. Tony Shaloub phoned it in last year. He didn't even try. Alec Baldwin, much as I think he's the male counterpart to a chicken, absolutely ROCKED THE 30 ROCK HOUSE. Still, too early for those actors to start taking too much away from longstanding shows. Here's the thing about Steve Carrell (who I think is an incredible actor and I would personally leave my husband for- kidding): if he won, it would be a slap in the face to Ricky Gervais who originated the role. Ricky improvised that character and tweaked it to the perfect example for just the right actor- Steve Carrell. They kind of had to tip their hat to Ricky before they acknowledged The Office. Team Steve Carrell 08!

I can't really comment because to be honest, I haven't watched Extras. However, Steve Carell's pseudo-win was freakin' awesome! With all the nominations for the "Gay Witch Hunt" episode, I was afraid the three would engage in the most awekard three-way kiss. Ever. Cheer to not reliving that!
