As much as I love to see one of my favorite bands put out their latest album, the most wonderful thing about the music world is that new artists continue to emerge. A very special few come out of nowhere and manage to blow your mind — so tell me, whose debut do you think is the best breakthrough album of 2009?

i voted for drake. i still have trouble with him though since he was on degrassi. it's hard to picture him doing anything else.

I'd say Baby Darling Doll Face Honey by Band of Skulls... they're easily my favourite new band and it's the best debut album I've heard in quite some time.
5Lungs by Florence and the Machine. It's a simply stunning album.
And yeah, Owl City is a terrible rip-off.

8I have been a fan of Kings of Leon for a couple years now but they just came onto the music scene here in the US this year so I would vote for them!

10I voted Owl City - but I didn't spot Florence and the Machine, which would definitely have gotten my vote!
