Watch Britney Spears's 2001 MTV VMA Performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U"

The MTV VMAs are on Sunday, and the event has come to be better more for its array of controversy-baiting performances than for the actual dispersion of awards. Not that I mind; half the fun of watching is to see what crazy stunt they'll cook up next (this year it sounds like we're revisiting the ballad of Kanye and Taylor). But we've also seen a myriad of performances that are memorable for the right reasons. Before Britney Spears's life turned into a soap opera and came back again (to land on top with Glee!), she gave it her all at the 2001 ceremony with the scandalous-at-the-time "I'm a Slave 4 U." Revisit it now, and cross your fingers with me that this year's show will have an equally significant performance.
