When I was a kid, I always got Star Search confused with Soul Train, but I have a feeling I won't be making that mistake anymore. Warner Bros. is set to bring the iconic TV show to the big screen in a 1980s setting. Though the show first aired a decade earlier, according to screenwriter Malcom Spellman, the '80s are iconic because "all of the hip-hop street dances you see today were born during that time period and were first seen on that show, and I remember doing all of them when I was a kid."
The dance movie phenomenon is still going strong, but Soul Train is a little different. It seems like it would cater to a younger audience, but let's face it: kids these days aren't familiar with the show. Are you ready for all the poppin' and lockin', or would you rather Soul Train stay in the past where it belongs?
