If you loved Aldous Snow — the crass, morally loose lothario rocker of Forgetting Sarah Marshall — I have very good news: he's getting his own movie! Aldous (played by Russell Brand) is one of the best parts of that rom-com, and Get Him to the Greek promises even more of his sloppy kissing, grinding, and drug-fueled nights on the town with Jonah Hill as his sidekick.
Hill plays Aaron Green, a record company intern assigned to pick up Aldous in London and escort him to a special show in LA at the Greek Theater. You can guess what happens next — Aldous introduces Aaron to his party lifestyle, and awkward bathroom sex and morning show puke follows.
While it shares the same actors and director (and producer Judd Apatow) as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Greek is not a sequel. Though Brand reprises his role, Hill isn't playing his same Hawaiian waiter character from the first film, and the movie looks more like The Hangover than a love story.
Brand is hilarious, but this looks like an all-out guy fest with a few hackneyed drunk scenes. But in the plus column, Aziz Ansari pops up as a co-worker, and Hill isn't irking me quite as much as he has in the past.
We'll have to wait until June 4 for the verdict, but check out the trailer and tell me what you think when you read more.
