Ben Affleck Takes Us Home in the Trailer For The Town

Ben Affleck made his directorial debut with Gone Baby Gone, a glimpse at the gritty underbelly of Boston, and his second turn behind the camera takes a similar look at his hometown. In The Town, Affleck takes it up a notch by starring in the film as well, playing a thief named Doug who takes up a relationship with a bank manager he had abducted (Rebecca Hall) as part of a former heist. Rounding out the cast are Jon Hamm as an FBI agent determined to put Doug behind bars, Jeremy Renner as Doug's right-hand man, and Blake Lively as some sort of trashy young thing.

Affleck did an impressive job putting Boston's crime scene under a microscope with Gone Baby Gone, and by the looks of this trailer, I have high hopes that he's done it again. My one gripe is that this preview just might give too much of the film away. Check it out when you read more.

I agree with buzz that the trailer may have given too many things away. ie Ben Affleck is one of the bank robbers?? (or so it may seem)

Well, Anonymous I see what you are saying about Ben Affleck and everything but he has redeemed himself in the last few years. And about that 'paperback': sacrilege! Dennis Lehane is amazing and I am a huge fan of his work.

I still think that Ben Affleck is overrated and some Bostonians are too starstruck over him and Damon (this is not directed at anyone here or elsewhere, I just mean in general). It's unnecessary. ...Like I said, I also think he is overrated and has been (remember "Reindeer Games" or "Sum of All Fears?") Ridiculous. "Gone, Baby, Gone" was also very overrated and based on a little paperback book you would get at the check out line at the supermarket. Some of the actors pulled it off but it wasn't all that interesting. So that's it for my 'rant'.
