I've been perusing the long list of interesting-looking movies scheduled for this year's Tribeca Film Festival, which continues in New York this week. It will be a while till many of the buzzworthy feature films hit theaters, so I'm excited that some of the festival's short films are online for anyone to view. One of those I was particularly curious to see is Cutlass.

The 16-minute film marks Kate Hudson's directorial debut, and she also wrote the screenplay. Compared to most shorts (at least the ones without celebrity directors), this movie has a pretty amazing cast, including Kristen Stewart, Kurt Russell, Virginia Madsen, Dakota Fanning, and Chevy Chase. The quick summary of the story: A mom (Madsen) can relate to her daughter (Fanning) about wanting to buy something really, really badly. The cinematography looks gorgeous, as does Stewart, who plays a younger version of Madsen's character and is kind of a knockout as a blonde.
You can watch the entire movie right here, so to check it out and let me know what you think about Hudson's filmmaking skills, just read more.

DKNY
I think she did an amazing job directing her first film. I loved the look of the film and the acting was amazing. It's really hard to do much in such a short film but she worked it out.
1LOVED IT......i have children and it perfectly hit the heart...!!!!!!
2I really, really like it! She worked it out, good job!
3This was a Glamour Reel Moments video that came out a few years ago.
4I saw this a while back and it's honestly better than most of Kate Hudson's films in which she's acted in them. Maybe she should stick to directing...? Or maybe she should just pick better roles.
5This movie made me smile. Kate did a fantastic job. It's difficult to make a story come to life in such a short time span, but she did it perfectly. Kudos to her.
6great movie.. I thought the acting was great.. and Kate did a wonderful job as director! Short and sweet..
7God Fanning annoys me, but that film's really good! And super cute! I still think the last Xmas tree scene is a bit cheesy an ending compared to how delicate the rest of the film is, but hey what do I know about directing.
8Kurt Russell's brilliant!
I loved it Kate, and the cast is really what made it even better, but I loved the story line everyone can relate to this story, excellent job Kate............
9Wow Kstew's acting wasn't horrendous as it usually is!
10I think I have seen this before, about a year ago.
11How long ago did it come out?
I loved it! It made me smile and think of my own parents
I think Kristen Stewart is so cute. And I don't know why, but with lighter hair like that, she kind of reminds me of Alicia Silverstone.
12I liked it too, and Buzz you're right - the cinematography is beautiful. I liked Virginia Madsen and Kristen Stewart best but Kurt Russell was good too.
I was wondering what does it take and/or cost to put together a short film like this? I know Kate Hudson did this through Glamour Magazines annual woman in film program and Clinique is a sponsor...but any details on the behind the scenes making?
Thanks for sharing the film Buzz!
13Does that girl ever NOT touch her hair like that? It reminds me of the kid in Dazed & Confused that touches his nose every two seconds... All thru Twilight & Adventureland it distracted me like crazy!
14I loved it! it's so beautiful
15and Kristen Stewart looks great with blonde hair
I'm seriously offended by Kristen Stewart's very existence.
can't even stand to see her or rpattz.
16I thought it told a good story in the limited amount of time it had and Kristen Stewart was well-cast as a younger version of Virginia Madsen's character.
17I watched it again... so pretty!
18It's really good. Great job to Kate and all the cast!
19yeah.. it's really Good.. I love the cast.. And Kristen is perfect..! She's a great actress!!
20Love it.! Love It.! Its really good.. They did a GREAT job.!! The cast and Kate..
21Cute movie. I owned a 71 cutlass convertible I said pretty much the same thing to my mom but she said no.. So my father helped me pay for it.. sold it ... looked for another one for the last 15 years... Found another 71 Convertible exactly the same as my first... Gave the same pitch to my wife... Just brought the car home this pass week
22The movie is really pretty!
