I'd say True Blood is the most traditional with the vamp stuff

Eric can fly.....cus he's old and powerful.

You know, I think this slideshow really points out that the vampires in Twilight aren't very vampiric.

i think i like the other 2 shows better than twilight b/c the other vamps actually have weaknesses. stephanie meyer made her vamps almost god-like and indestructible.

Nice slideshow. It's cool how each story can create different rules and still be interesting, but I can't believe that someone dared to create a sparkly vampire.

In the Vamp. Diaries books they cant have sex. For them drinking blood is a substitution for the act. I'm not surprised they changed it for the show.

BTW. The ring Stefan and Damon wears was mentioned in episodes of Buffy and Angel. Angel got the ring from Buffy (which Spike decided to steal), which enabled him to walk in the sun. Although Angel destroyed it, coz he thought it might just be safer for everyone.

I love vampire diaries and of course twilight but the VD show is way different than the books but I still love it! Twilight is the most different compared to the traditional vampire stories, but that's what I love about it, its different. I never have watched true blood but I bet its good too. You can't go wrong with vamps and romance.

Recapping all the traditions and how these stories use or avoid them makes "Twilight" seem a little creepy. I hadn't really thought about the Edward lurking in the bedroom part for a while, pretty stalker-like. Seems like some vulnerabilities, other than being ripped apart and burned, would have made for some interesting twists to her plot. (BTW I'm a fan of all 3 series and enjoy them for what they are).

though i love twilight, i'm irked stephanie meyer changed all the rules with vampires.

i prefer the true blood vampires because of ERIC NORTHMAN. oh, hai.

and buzz, you forgot one important myth of vampires: GLAMOUR/mind control. i mean, hellooo dracula?!

I love Twilight but Stephenie Meyer's version of a vampire is not my favorite. First off, vampires have fangs. I hate that the Twilight vampires do not have fangs. I love the True Blood version of a vampire. I am so in love with Eric it is not even funny.

after seeing all the comparisons its weird but i cant help but think buffy blew these all out of the water as being the most traditional but original vampire.

I like all three!!!! I've read twilight and I fell in love with the Series! After Reading Twilight I started to read the Sookie Stackhouse Novels and I found out that I liked them too! Now I'm also watching The Vampire Diaries! I like all three for different reasons!!!

Luv all 3 but the films/programmes are no where near as good as the books.

In my opinion, Twilight vampires... well... aren't really vampires! They're probably a different blood sucking, sparkly race. Just because they suck blood, that doesn't mean they're vampires! A lot of others mythical creatures suck blood
