The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev Admits That She Loves Twilight

Tonight we'll be treated to another episode of The Vampire Diaries, and by now you all know that it's one of my favorite new guilty pleasures. Last week I shared a few quotes from Ian Somerhalder about the show, but he wasn't the only star I chatted with at the TCA. Nina Dobrev, who plays mortal love interest of both of the Salvatore brothers, talked to me about the show and why she's hooked on the Twilight saga.

• On how quickly the show moves:
  "It's not one of those things where they're going to drag it out — they're really going and hitting all stops from the beginning. Like, the second episode? It's really intense. And then the third one? We go into the read-throughs shocked at how fast everything is moving along and how much action."

• On the show's subject matter:
  "We're definitely pushing a lot of envelopes with the show. A lot of the stuff has been on the CW but not so quickly."
• On the popularity of vampires:
  "I think it's great. I definitely love that I'm part of it. I love the Twilight movies. I'm obsessed with True Blood. When we went to Comic-Con and we met all the cast of True Blood I was genuinely star-struck. It's timeless, though. Everybody sort of relates to the fact that you grow up and you hear the stories at home with your family and you watch in the movies, Interview with the Vampire, there's this weird kind of mystical but so human . . . there's sci fi, which is all about aliens and that kind of stuff, but these are people with special abilities who are sexy and scary. And you always want what you can't have.
