The final season of Ugly Betty is sadly winding down, but there are still some surprises and major moments in store. For one thing, it looks like Betty will finally be getting that makeover we've been hearing about for months. It's a sad day for the Betty Suarez fan club: Entertainment Weekly reports that the current season of Ugly Betty will be its last.
I can't say I'm particularly surprised about the news, especially with the Friday to Wednesday time shift, but I'll definitely be sad to see Betty go. I've been following the inner workings of Mode since the beginning and I actually think the fourth season has been solid. The good news is that the writers now have plenty of time to tie up any loose ends before the season finale — or, you know, put Betty and Daniel on the relationship fast track.

From the first season of Ugly Betty, I always had a feeling that someday the writers would inevitably run out of ideas and make Betty and Daniel hook up. OK, I may have been tipped off by the original series, Betty La Fea (where Betty dates her boss), but it just seems natural that after enough time, the two characters that were always "just friends" end up together.
Well, the time may be in the near future according to the show's creator, Silvio Horta. He told EW, "We’ve been batting around the idea. It is not outside the realm of possibility that something [could] happen, but we’re not sure yet." Horta went on to say that some fans will be displeased whether the co-workers get together or not, but what's your take — should Betty and Daniel date?

The fourth season of Ugly Betty kicked off this week, with a two-hour premiere on Friday night. ABC hasn't exactly been heavily marketing the show, and many — including me — are worried that the new time slot could be a death sentence. I was happy to have Betty back in my living room, and I'm already loving the new work dynamic between her and Matt. Plus, I was excited to see more of Justin, and while I think it's high time for Betty's braces to come off, I'm glad they didn't dive right into the makeover we all know is coming.
So what are your thoughts on the premiere? Did you come back to Betty on Friday nights, or are you throwing in the towel?
