Is True Blood's Jesus Too Good to Be True?

Is this charming hunk of Latin flesh that has just come waltzing into Lafayette's life the real deal or is he a nightmare waiting to happen? Jesus Velasquez (Kevin Alejandro) is adorable, funny, willing to wait nine hours for a date . . . even if I weren't watching a cynical HBO show I would be suspicious. Me, jaded? Naw. If you pick nightmare, do you think he is the supernatural kind or the more run of the mill kind? Feel free to elaborate in the comments.

I think that mt Santeria prediction may turn out to have been true. When I saw the preview for last night's episode, I assumed it would be Mr. Cataliades but was surprised to see the demon face be attached to Jesus. Still think that he is not actually a demon but that it is Santeria or voodoo based.

Guarantee, will put money on it, that Jesus is actually a Demon (Claudine is a Fairy, etc. etc.) it just makes sense. I mean, Demons are covered in the book series and I think the writers are taking a new spin on what a Demon is here. In the books, Demon's are compatible and can be nice at tiems but they have a mystery about them... I'm really excited to see where this goes.

I think he is a shifter and the jaguar on his chest reflects what he shifts into.... However, Sam can smell another shifter. And he hasn't done so much as wink in Jesus' direction.... so maybe not.

I wonder if he is a witch. Or maybe they will introduce something not in the books like Santeria. That would make a ton of sense, actually.

I really want him to be just a good guy, but so hard to think anyone on the show is what they seem.

There's no mention of Jesus in the book series so it's very hard to tell if he's up to something other than just sincerely interested in Lafayette.

Possible combination of all 3. He's sincerely into Lafayette, he'll do everything for him (even will sacrifice himself?) but then he's under the influence of a demon/is a demon on a mission himself who later on, after his 'mask' has been unmasked and Lafeyette got turned off, he turned into a clingy crazed (ex) lover? :D Or previous poster has made a good point, either AB want's to do some symbolic thing with religion and homosexuality OR AB wants Jesus to later on 'die' out of sacrificing himself!

He has to be something. Every scene he's in they have him in front of Lafayette's makeshift holy shrine, and they've focused on it a couple of times when the scenes are ending. There has to be something to that, besides the fact that his name is Jesus. However, it could be a statement about homosexuality and religion. But I'm still thinking maybe it's pointing to something being unusual about him.
