Trailer for Pedro: The Movie Written by Dustin Lance Black
MTV Remembers With Pedro: The Movie
The Real World: San Francisco will always have a special place in my heart — for Puck's antics, for Judd's dorky cuteness, but mostly for Pedro. Fifteen years ago, Pedro Zamora moved into a house with those six strangers and proceeded to show America what living with HIV was like.

Tonight, MTV remembers Zamora with Pedro: The Movie, a 90-minute TV movie based on his life. Somewhat oddly, it's not a documentary, but a drama with actors in the roles of the Real World housemates, Zamora's family, and Sean Sasser, Zamora's partner, whom he married on the show. I wonder if MTV couldn't get the original castmates to reunite for an in-person tribute?
One of the most intriguing things about this project is its writer, Dustin Lance Black, an Oscar winner for a little film called Milk. I'm curious to see how he gives voice to Pedro's story — and if it will seem relevant to a new generation of MTV-watchers who might not remember that San Francisco Real World season. To watch a trailer for the film, just read more.
