Trailer For The Freebie Starring Dax Shepard

Despite his more somber moments on Parenthood, I've never thought of Dax Shepard as a dramatic actor. But in this trailer for The Freebie, he puts on a surprisingly good straight face as conflicted husband Darren. After a prolonged period without sex, Darren suggests to his wife (The League's Katie Aselton, who also wrote and directed the film) that they each try a one-night stand. The idea isn't entirely new (the upcoming Hall Pass tackles the same subject), but I'm liking the quiet, almost voyeuristic feel of this preview. It really is like you're observing a real-life couple, so check it out after the jump.
