Tim Burton Signs on for 3-D Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton just keeps on truckin'! Having not even released his grisly musical movie version of Sweeney Todd, Burton has just signed with Disney to create two more projects: Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie. Variety has more:

Alice in Wonderland... will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in Beowulf, with live-action footage. Script by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) is based on the Lewis Carroll classic.

Burton will helm and produce Frankenweenie, based on his 1984 short film about a pet dog brought back to life by his loyal owner. Pic will be shot in stop-motion animation and shown in digital 3-D.

Hooray for more Tim Burton! I simply cannot wait to see what he does with the fantastical Alice in Wonderland story. Which part do you think Helena Bonham Carter will play?

This is wonderful news! Frankenweenie was so different and I'm glad it's becoming a full film. Should be interesting to see what he does to Alice in Wonderland; Tim Burton is genius!

I think Alice in Wonderland will be fantastic.....but I think he should leave Frankenweenie alone. He got it right the first time, there's no way he'll make it better.

This sounds exciting. I'm hoping it's more of Return to Oz than Wizard of Oz take on the story. Hopefully he will team up with Danny Elfman again for these next two projects!!! I would love to see Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen of Hearts and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter!!!
