The Vampire Diaries "The Originals": The Good, the Bad, and the Bloody

We get a little time-out from the cure drama in Mystic Falls on this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, and we head to New Orleans with Klaus. There's a reason there's a focus on the original vampires — this episode also serves as the pilot for spin-off The Originals. He road-trips to Louisiana for a little witch investigation but ends up running into an old friend.

Though we do get a glimpse at the Salvatore brothers and a few people back in Mystic Falls, this week is all about Klaus. There is a lot going on in the streets of New Orleans, and it ain't Mardi Gras. Ready to get to the good, the bad, and the bloody? Just keep reading.

The Vampire Diaries "Pictures of You": The Good, the Bad, and the Bloody

It's time for prom on The Vampire Diaries, and even though beloved characters have recently died and there's a threat of every dead supernatural creature coming back to life, the gang still finds time to put on some formalwear, drink punch, and boogie.

It's time for prom on The Vampire Diaries, and even though beloved characters have recently died and there's a threat of every dead supernatural creature coming back to life, the gang still finds time to put on some formalwear, drink punch, and boogie. It's fun for a prom episode, and I'm happy that most of the drama that happens this week is the kind of drama that happens at most high schools (you have no date to the dance, some other girl is wearing your dress, you don't win prom queen, etc.).

Still, this is The Vampire Diaries, so there is some blood loss, biting, and very dangerous supernatural problems. Ready to break it all down, from who slow dances with whom to who wins prom queen? Get all of the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump.

Sneak Peek: The Vampire Diaries Goes to the Prom!

What with death, black magic, and new villains, the characters on The Vampire Diaries have been having a rough go of it.

What with death, black magic, and new villains, the characters on The Vampire Diaries have been having a rough go of it. Thankfully, something a little lighter is coming up: the prom! Tonight, Elena and the gang will don formalwear to hopefully dance to cheesy slow jams (and also, hopefully, not get killed). Check out everyone in tuxes and gowns — yes, even Rebekah, who's been dying to go to a school dance for decades (literally). See what everyone's wearing, and speculate about who's going with whom!

The Vampire Diaries "American Gothic": The Good, the Bad, and the Bloody

This week's episode of The Vampire Diaries is full of cop-outs, from a life-threatening injury to what I hoped would be the end of the cure hunt.

This week's episode of The Vampire Diaries is full of cop-outs, from a life-threatening injury to what I hoped would be the end of the cure hunt. Rebekah, Elena, Damon, and Stefan are on a small-town sojourn to pry the cure from Katherine's possession, and while we're there, we meet back up with one of my favorite Original vampires: Elijah!

Back in Mystic Falls, Klaus and Caroline are slowly eking their way toward friendship, but it's not close enough to the romance I'd rather see for them. Ready to break down the good, the bad, and the bloody? Let's get to it after the jump.

See Klaus Shirtless on The Vampire Diaries!

The Vampire Diaries fans, stop what you're doing right now: Klaus is shirtless.

The Vampire Diaries fans, stop what you're doing right now: Klaus is shirtless. In the new photos from this week's episode, "American Gothic," star Joseph Morgan is blessedly, gratuitously sans shirt — sure, it looks like he's being tortured by Silas, but we'll take what we can get. Click through to see big bad vampire Klaus looking distressed (but I repeat: shirtless), along with a few shots of what the other characters (like Elijah!) are up to as well.

Ian Somerhalder recently stopped by the POPSUGAR office in NY to discuss his smoldering role on The Vampire Diaries. He opened up about Elena's bad-girl streak, the chances of the gang finding "the cure," and what we can expect from this week's '70s-flashback episode. Check it out!

The Vampire Diaries "Because the Night": The Good, the Bad, and the Bloody

We are off to the Big Apple in this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, as Damon has decided that a trip to New York City is exactly what rebellious young vampire Elena needs.

We are off to the Big Apple in this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, as Damon has decided that a trip to New York City is exactly what rebellious young vampire Elena needs. The thought is that she can have fun, relax, and eat someone in a city that won't notice one of its millions dead. We also get a '70s flashback, an awesome romantic revelation, and a game-changing act initiated by Bonnie.

Lots of things go wrong this week, including said NYC vacation. Silas is in town wreaking havoc, Klaus and Caroline are snarking at each other, and once again, the cure is on everyone's mind. Let's break it all down into the good, the bad, and the bloody after the jump.

The Vampire Diaries "Bring It On": The Good, the Bad, and the Bloody

The Vampire Diaries is back this week with some vampire rebellion, as Elena gets to be a bad girl after her feelings are turned off.

The Vampire Diaries is back this week with some vampire rebellion, as Elena gets to be a bad girl after her feelings are turned off. While she's busy with her rampant feeding, dancing, and making everyone uncomfortable, Stefan and Caroline worry about her behavior, and Damon is looking for clues about Katherine's whereabouts.

We get a surprising dose of steaminess from someone who's waited a very long time for some action — Klaus! However, I do have some mixed feelings about it. Let's get down to that, plus the other good, bad, and bloody after the jump.

On an upcoming episode of The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev sports bold pink strands. The episode won't air until March 21, but these early photos reveal her character Elena's new colorful style. There is no telling how long the highlights will last, but they're reminiscent of the pink hair trend from last Spring. January Jones, Coco Rocha, Ashley Benson, and Nicole Richie are all stars who rocked pink locks last year. If you're looking to re-create Elena's look, start with a few bright extensions or hair chalk. Will this punk hair trend reemerge in 2013? Vote now!
