Should Rocky Horror Be Rebooted?

No, let's really do the Time Warp again: Just a week before Glee reveals its own tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show (see pictures here and here), creator Ryan Murphy has been offered the chance to direct the big screen reboot.

It's not huge news that someone in Hollywood wants to put a modern spin on the '70s camp classic, but it sounds like it's really taking shape if a director is being hired. As for whether Murphy can handle it, well, I'll have to wait until the Glee episode airs to make my final decision. Beyond that, are you excited that the iconic musical is being rebooted, or are you so devoted to the original that the news just bums you out?

Let's do the time warp again! Glee's highly anticipated tribute episode to The Rocky Horror Picture Show is just around the corner, and if these early photos are any indication, it's going to be nothing short of epic. You have Finn as Brad, Kurt as Riff Raff, and Dr. Carl (John Stamos) as . . . Meat Loaf's Eddie? The big question is, who will play Frank-N-Furter? These photos are just a taste of what's to come on Oct. 26, but for now, click through for a preview of the campy fun!

FABTV: The Time Warp!

Don't tell me you've never done the Time Warp.

Don't tell me you've never done the Time Warp. When were you first introduced to The Rocky Horror Picture Show? I may have been too young — 15? — but it was so much fun. Needless to say, my friends and I were all over it, and snuck out to catch the famous midnight showing. (Mom, are you reading this?) I had two giant hickeys on my neck as a result. No, not from necking — they said it was a ritual that had to be done to all RHPS virgins. I gave in. It was so much fun.

P.S. A remake is in the works! Not sure how I feel about that, but I kinda can't wait to see.

Let's Do the Time Warp Again?

It may be "just a jump to your left/ Then a step to your right," but I can't help but think that this might be a giant step to the back.

It may be "just a jump to your left/ Then a step to your right," but I can't help but think that this might be a giant step to the back. That's right, news surfaced today that a The Rocky Horror Picture Show remake is in the works. The MTV network is partnering with Lou Adler, who produced the 1975 film, for a remake that will feature the original screenplay of Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien, with the possibility of a new song or two.

As someone who is a big fan of the original film and the stage production (yes, I saw Luke Perry as Brad!) this news makes me a little sad, especially as it's coming from the network that brought us Carmen: A Hip Hopera. Regardless, the original is such a cult classic, and Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meatloaf are so iconic in their respective roles. Seriously, who else but Tim Curry could sing "Sweet Transvestite?" Alan Cumming perhaps? How do you feel about this news? Are you ready to do the time warp again?
