What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays.

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to recommending these titles, I must warn you against Because I Said So, which also comes out on DVD this week: While it looks like a fun way to spend Mother's Day with your mom — don't do it! Aside from being a really bad movie, there's an incredibly awkward scene about orgasms that you may not want to watch with your parents. Okay, that's all. Onward with the worthwhile titles...

The Painted Veil
Based on a novel by W. Somerset Maugham, The Painted Veil is the beautifully shot tale of a young couple, Walter (Edward Norton) and Kitty (Naomi Watts) who are enduring an empty marriage. When they move to Shanghai, Kitty falls for another man. Walter discovers her betrayal and brings Kitty with him to a remote Chinese village plagued with a deadly disease. Over time, and through their meaningful work with the villagers, however, the two come to honor each other.

Movie Preview: The Painted Veil

There are so many movies coming out right now that it's hard to remember them all, much less see them all.

There are so many movies coming out right now that it's hard to remember them all, much less see them all. But I'm definitely adding The Painted Veil to my list. Directed by John Curran (who gave us the thought-provoking anti-romance We Don't Live Here Anymore), the movie stars Naomi Watts as an aristocrat who marries a bacteriologist, played by Edward Norton; the newly married couple who travel to China to treat a cholera outbreak. The cast also includes the always subtle Liev Schreiber, and judging from the trailer, it looks to be a beautiful film.

Naomi Stars in The Painted Veil

Naomi Watts, Ed Norton, and Liev Schreiber came out to celebrate the premiere of their new film The Painted Veil in LA on Wednesday night. Naomi plays the adulterous wife of Ed Norton in the 20s and her real life boyfriend Liev stars as her lover. The film is based on a novel and has been made into a movie two times before so it must be really good. The 1957 remake starred Greta Garbo which is probably a little intimidating but Naomi is a great actress and has that classic look that easily translates for this period piece. She can also pull off a more contemporary look as well! Check out those crazy striped shoes! The film comes out December 20th.

We'd love to see Naomi and Liev get married sometime soon. They seem like a good match. For lots more pics of the cast just read more
