It's official! Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Taylor Lautner will reprise his role in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. This news arrives after rumors swirled that he might be replaced.

As fans of the books know, Jacob becomes a central figure in New Moon as Edward's romantic rival. Given that, it's no wonder the folks in charge of the sequel took a long look at Taylor to ensure he has what it takes to spend more time onscreen.

I believe that this young actor is more then adequate for the part of Jacob Black,he has the charm but also the dynamic outdoorsy sex appeal needed,remember Jacob is first and foremost Indian,and this young man has that look! He is amazing and will be able to show off his talents as an actor ,yet he is still humble ,I look forward to seeing him shine in this next film. As for the muscle,oh he has it,you dont have to be huge or fat to show strength,just look at his chest and his cheek structure ,the strength is there! I would adopt him LOL I have five daughters, and they all love him! Hugs for Taylor!

I am happy that they are keeping the regular Jacob..he is so cute..a lot of people said that they dont care for twilight well is very stupid to be in here if u dont like the books..go do something more interesting for yourself it just dont make any sense if u dont like Twilight why the hell r ya here!!!

i think the best actor to play jacop in the new moon would be Steven Strait…he is just right ..the smile,,the pain on his face,,,that’s exactly what bella is talking about in the story..even the angry face will suit him..so i think he is the best

yay so happy. awesome. he may not be 7 ft but he is a good actor and can do the part very well. if they change anybody in the upciming twilight movies i dont think ill watch them. so hopefully everyone will stay the same.

when i read the book New Moon i always pictured Jacob to be Simon Baker from Into the West

I think it would have been appropriate to replace him. He had a very small part in the first one, and in NEW MOON he is supposed to be about 6'5" and very big and bulky. He's supposed to basically look like a whole new guy anyway. Taylor is cute, but like a child. He is not the 25-year-old man that New Moon describes him to be.

i was really looking forward to new moon coz i thought they were gonna replace him, now i'm not so hot about it anymore. i meant taylor was fine for the first one (ok, fine might be a slight exaggeration) but honestly, i don't think he can handle the jacob in new moon. that character is almost the complete opposite of the previous one, it's going to require some serious acting chops on the part of the actor and i just don't think taylor has it.

He was weird in Twilight, but I do see him as Jacob... I am glad that they kept him cuz I hate it when the change the character in in the middle of movies, it bugs the crap out of me. So, ummm... ya that is my opinion.

I don't think he is the best choice to play Jacob, but since he was already in the first film, it would be weird if they replaced him for the second -- especially if they kept all of the other actors the same.

i think everyone needs to calm down! look at benjamin button brad pitt looked 16!!!! It makes sense to have someone bigger, but if taylor can do it we need to give it a chance....and everyone needs to remember this book and this movie will not be exact bc all movies are BASED off books! i think there a different things but thats good, it adds character to the people that take the time and read the book to really understand the characters. Jacob has a big role from now on, and we need to remember he WONT be smiling once he is werewolf until bella knows and then he wont smile bc she hangs out with bloodsuckers....so jacob character is A LOT MORE indepth then the preview that we got in twilight... all in all i trust stephanie meyers and her goal to keep her books and movies similiar!

I know Taylor can live up to his fans expectations. Its not easy to protray himself as a werewolf including all those emotional scenes when he realised he is a werewolf. I guess, no one can 'love' Bella better than Taylor Lautner did in Twilight. Its not all about physicality, what we have to see if Taylor can really make Edward pissed off in New Moon by trying to 'snatch' her away from Edward. I want to see that kind of angst! Because those are the details in the book 'New Moon' which sums up the whole complexities between Edward and Bella! Plus other complications and so forth... Only Taylor Lautner can do that (hahahah) As Stephenie quoted in her website under the FACTS column for (Eclipse) -- '.....Bella does not fall in love with Jacob in Eclipse. Bella falls in love with Jacob in New Moon' So ,....now...i'm looking forward to see how and what Taylor will do to show that essence on screen, for the audience, in New Moon :) Go Taylor! You can do it!

nope. sorry he isn't jacob to me. he does not look a bit native american to me and that part when telling bella about a "sca-ry st-o-ry" totally made me cringe. he needs to work on diction and they still should use someone else for the role. i think the next film is going to be a flop because they won't be pulling off the werewolf version very well. and anyway, i am probably not going to give the film a chance anyway. *sarcastic* thanks summit entertainment for letting a bunch of teens help in your cast decision. */sarcastic*

I would have rather they picked the other guy. I'm a huge fan of these books and I just didn't see Taylor as a big, tough, ripped, werewolf. I know the fans protested so much and that's probably why they kept him, but the other guy looked older and didn't have such a baby face. Book 2 was my least favorite. I'm interested to see what happens. With a new director, rushed deadline, not casting properly, and them changing the plot to add more of Rob just to get more money isn't going to work out the best. Instead of making a great movie to match a great book they are just out to get money.

I have mixed feelings on this. I am glad they are not replacing him but he obviously is not physically perfect for the progression his character will go through. I just hope they can use their "Hollywood Magick" to make it work.
