Summer just wasn't the same without my favorite cranky doctor, so I'm quite ready for the triumphant return of "House" tonight. OK, that's a bit of a lie. I've already seen the season's first episode, so what I really mean is, I can't wait until you've all watched so we can talk about it.

The start of the resolution to one of my favorite spring cliffhangers is just as juicy as I hoped it would be. Left to his own devices after his proteges took off in the third season finale, House enlists anyone he can find — even a janitor — in trying to solve the case of a woman who falls ill after being crushed by a falling building, all while insisting he doesn't need to hire a new team. The House vs. Wilson interplay might be better than it's ever been, and the House vs. Cuddy sexual tension is heightened as always (there's a killer line about a water bra).

The episode is quite good by itself — the case takes an impressively clever twist, even by "House" standards — but it also set up the season perfectly; I can't wait to see House start his reign of terror over a new group of eager doctors. To watch a scene from the episode, just read more
