Steve Carell to Star in The Dogs of Babel
Steve Carell Is Going to the Dogs
by Shannon Vestal 0
There's no doubt that Steve Carell will be busy once he departs The Office in April. The actor has lined up a series of big screen projects to occupy his time, and his latest casting news adds a bit of animalistic variety. Carell has signed on for The Dogs of Babel, playing a man whose wife has just died. Though police say her death was an accident, Carell's character isn't convinced, and he tries to get the story out of the only witness: a dog. He attempts to teach the dog to talk, which is explained by his state of extreme grief.
The setup could either work for comedy or drama (or dark comedy perhaps), depending on the approach, though I definitely have faith in Carell being able to tackle either angle. And considering that the movie is an adaptation of a book, I figure I can add it to my reading list and find out.
