Stars on the Set

Scarlett Johansson showed off her freshly dyed red hair on the Captain America: The Winter Soldier set in LA yesterday. She is sporting crimson tresses for her return to the role of Black Widow in the latest Captain America flick, which is due out next year. This is the first we have seen of Scarlett with her newly dyed 'do, and she is not the only actress to go red for a role recently. Megan Fox dyed her hair red to film Michael Bay's upcoming live-action Ninja Turtles project.

Scarlett popped up on her LA set after switching gears from a recent stint in NYC, where she starred in the Broadway play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Aside from the stage and the big screen, she is also currently on newsstands. Scarlett covers the May issue of Marie Claire, and in an interview with the magazine, she touches on personal topics such as her divorce and dating in general, although she is currently taken by French boyfriend Romain Dauriac.

The stars packed on the PDA, practiced their upper-cuts, and even dodged New York traffic while on various sets this week. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set heated up on Monday with real-life couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone — who laughed and cuddled during filming — while Jamie Foxx put on his blue face as the movie's resident villain, Electro. Elsewhere, Bradley Cooper worked on David O. Russell's freshly titled new movie American Hustle, and Jonah Hill took to the streets for his upcoming film with James Franco, True Story. Reese Witherspoon put her new brunette hair on display as she filmed a scene for her upcoming film, The Good Lie, in Atlanta yesterday. The shoot involved her stepping out of a car with a risqué bumper sticker that read: "If you're going to ride my *ss, at least pull my hair." The slogan fits with the film since, according to reports, Reese will play a "brash" American woman who helps a group of teenage Sudanese refugees relocate to the US. Filming for the new project began earlier this month, and Reese was previously spotted working hard on set last week.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield shared a giggle and a hug while filming a scene for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in NYC last night. The onscreen and offscreen couple met up on a fake Christmas market that was meant to mimic Union Square's famed holiday bazaar. Emma and Andrew skipped last weekend's MTV Movie Awards to stay on the East Cost and continue work on their upcoming action flick. Emma had good reason to miss the award show, as she has been pulling double-duty in the Big Apple this month. She is also working on her new film, Birdman, while taking breaks from the Spidey set.

Matthew McConaughey was hard at work on the set of his new HBO cop drama, True Detectives, in New Orleans yesterday. Matthew kept dry under an umbrella while revealing aspects of his character's costume, which included a prominent police badge and a large tattoo on his forearm. The actor, who has been suiting up for his upcoming television series since last month, will costar alongside real-life good friend Woody Harrelson. Matthew also confirmed last week that he will star in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic Interstellar. Although Matt is on location in New Orleans, he and his wife, Camila Alves, have made Austin their home base and have become contributing community members. The couple attended ACL Live last week as part of a two-day charity event put on by the Mack, Jack & McConaughey foundation.

This week on set, Jeremy Renner and Christian Bale partnered up to continue work on the untitled David O. Russell film, while their costar Jennifer Lawrence got into character by wearing a neck brace. Elsewhere, small-screen actors Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan shared a passionate kiss on the set of The CW's Beauty and the Beast, and Katie Holmes popped up in NYC to begin work on her new Spike Lee movie. Reese Witherspoon got to work on the set of her new film, The Good Lie, in Atlanta yesterday. She put her freshly dyed locks on display for the day of shooting after debuting her darker hairdo during a family trip to Nashville, TN, last month. She'll be spending more time down south while making her new film, which chronicles the life of a young Sudanese refugee who escapes to the US among other lost boys.

Reese is not only taking on a new big-screen project, but she also recently put her singing skills to use. She paired up with Michael Bublé to record new music after he took a liking to her voice in her 2005 performance in Walk the Line. Michael and Reese's new song, "Something Stupid," was released this week and will be featured on his new album, To Be Loved.

Katie Holmes got back into the swing of things when she popped up on a film set in NYC yesterday. She is filming Mania Days, a new movie produced by Spike Lee and directed by newcomer Paul Dalio. Spike joined Katie on set, where she is reportedly portraying a manic-depressive poet who falls in love with a rapper played by Luke Kirby. Katie found herself back in the news earlier this week after reports surfaced that her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, had opened up about their divorce during an interview on a German TV show. According to the rumors that originated from a German magazine, Tom said he "didn't expect" his divorce from Katie and said that life was "tragicomic." However, his rep came out yesterday to announce that Tom never spoke about his relationship with Katie and that the quotes were completely fabricated.

Emma Stone had a backdrop of lilies behind her while shooting scenes for her latest film project, Birdman, in NYC today. The dark comedy centers on a washed-up actor, played by Michael Keaton, who — once famous for his iconic superhero role — is looking to redeem himself with a Broadway play. Emma is playing Michael's fresh-out-of-rehab daughter in the movie and will act alongside Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis as well.

Emma is currently set hopping in the Big Apple as she is also in the middle of filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with real-life boyfriend Andrew Garfield. Andrew was spotted bike riding yesterday solo, while his girlfriend made headlines with her latest cover spot on Marie Claire Australia's May issue. It was also announced that in between movie sets and magazine covers, Emma's teaming up with Olivia Wilde to cohost the 16th annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women in NYC on May 4.

Keri Russell popped up in Vancouver to hit the set of her latest film, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, yesterday. She was joined by other members of the cast, including Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke, for the day of work as well. The film, which is the latest installment for the Planet of the Apes franchise, is due out next May and also stars Gary Oldman and Judy Greer.

Keri is jumping between the big and small screen lately since she is also filming for her new series, The Americans, in NYC. Just last week, Keri donned a wig to shoot scenes on the set of the FX drama in the city. The Americans, which also stars Matthew Rhys, was recently renewed for a second season.
