• The episode count. FX has ordered a 10-episode season of the drama, which should be plenty to feed your SOA cravings.
• The premiere date. Although a concrete date hasn't been nailed down just yet, FX let it slip that Mayans MC will arrive on TV screens at some point later in 2018.
• The pilot underwent rigorous reshoots. The show's first episode was completely reshot last year and resulted in a few key roles being recast. Don't freak out, though — Sons of Anarchy went through a similar pilot process, which saw Ron Perlman replacing Scott Glenn in the role of Clay Morrow.
• Several people have been cast. JD Pardo (The Messengers) will play EZ, while Edward James Olmos is taking on the role of his father. John Ortiz and Clayton Cardenas are also appearing as series regulars.
• The same team is behind it. The Sons of Anarchy co-creators, Sutter and Elgin James, are developing the spinoff series together. Sutter serves as an executive producer, with James as the co-executive producer. Noberto Barba directed the pilot and will also be an executive producer.
• It will have the "same spirit" as Sons of Anarchy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mayans MC has been described as "a dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the one percent outlaw, this time, reflected through a Latino lens."
• The tone will be different. In a series of tweets last year, Sutter said, "Although the Mayan Project may intersect with SOA charters, it will be a very different show. Tone, pace, storytelling, will be unique."
• We may see some familiar faces. "Mayan Project won't take place in NoCal. That steps on SOA mythology," Sutter tweeted last year. "Although I'd love to find a way to use my brother, @EmilioRivera48."
