Last time I checked in with highbrow hip-hopper Talib Kweli, he was collaborating with Madlib on Liberation. A mere eight months later, he's gotten together with the ubiquitous Justin Timberlake on a new song called "Nature." (via Pitchfork.)
The song will appear as a bonus track on Kweli's new album, called Ear Drum and coming out next Tuesday. On this mellow but make-you-think number, Timberlake is soulful rather than sexy, striking a thoughtful vibe with his signature falsetto as Kweli delivers commentary in tricky rhymes. "If they the third world, then who the first / to get to heaven? I know it's hard/ but who does God choose to go through the worst?" I love Talib Kewli! Especiallay when he was with Mos Def in Blackstar. They have the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. They both make you think about things and have mad flow!!!
1I prefer Common and Nas and Mos Def. Talib just annoys moi.
2interesting
3Huge fan. Great song.
4I like it. Justin has been all over the place lately.Everyone wants him on their track
5Good song; I love Talib Kweli so much! I agree with you, shulvrkrp, he was great with Mos Def! Eardrum is going to be an absolutely phenomenal album.
6Love Kweli! but not as much as I love Mos. Can't wait for the album!
7I like this song. It's nice to hear music with substance again. I think that we need a little more of that right now.
8I really like this song .
9need to download !
aww i miss blackstar....the song's alright. i really like the beat & music, but i think the lyrics for JT could be stronger & a little more original
10A lil' slow for me...
11Eh. OK I guess.
12here's my take on the song: good beat, especially in the end. but for some reason i can just picture teens slow dancing to this song with the opposite sexes instead of really hearing the big message to the song. it just has that vibe for me.
and justin timberlake you got to be kidding me. who in here thinks that talib only got him to sing so the song might get the chance to play in more mainstream music stations? it's a good idea but a touch of justin is a touch of superficiality to me. i'm just sick of justin "grammys was nothing without me" timberlake.
i'll get my socially conscious raps from Common, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco and even Kanye West.
13I love Talib and I love JT so the two of them together doesn't get much better. And I must disagree with 'pinkflats' ... Justin may not produce all his music but he certainly has a knack for putting things together so him and Talib isn't about mainstream music, I think its about collaboration.
14I love Talib's lyrics and flow; he's definately one of the best (in my opinion) mc's out there today. However, I just can't stand Justin Timberlake. Why would anyone collaborate with him? Has everyone forgotten that he used to "sing" in the Worst Band of the Century, the Backstreet Boys? Mr. Kweli's label must have though it would be a good idea for promotional reasons. Talib, have you lost your mind?
