Song of the Day: Coldplay Cover the Smiths
It's hard to believe that the Smiths frontman Morrissey is celebrating his 48th birthday today. It seems like only yesterday he was helping to fuel my teenage angst and that of countless other young people. But the ex-Smiths have managed to stay pretty hip: Johnny Marr has joined Modest Mouse, Morrissey is still releasing albums as a solo artist, and a new generation of music fans are now digging the old tunes.
To celebrate, I thought I'd post this live performance of Coldplay covering "Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before." Fittingly, this was the Smiths' last U.S. single, which Chris Martin introduces by saying "One of the bands we all think is great is the Smiths." (Thanks to the Music Slut for posting the track.)
