Would You Want a Sex and the City Sequel?

The stars of the Sex and the City movie were hinting at a sequel before the weekend but now that the film was such a smash success at the box office, the talk for another movie has reached a fever pitch.

Makes you wonder if Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King are huddled together as we speak to brainstorm sequel ideas.

Are you on board for a sequel? Or was one movie enough? The ladies are officially middle-aged now, so what new themes would you hope they might tackle?

there were happy endings all around, and they referenced all of the best parts of the series, so why would they make another one.

I'm a huge fan and I liked the movie, but I think they should leave well enough alone. There didn't seem to be any room for a sequel. And, I think it was a good ENDING to a story. It will miss it, but I think it is time to move on.

Not to be age-ist, but they're already pushing 50. What would the sequel be? Sex in the Retirement Home? I LOVED the show, and I also loved the movie, but I think now I would be more interested in starting over some of the same themes with a new group of younger women...like Jennifer Hudson!

i love the show, i do, and i love the movie. but it would ruin everything for them to burn out, i liked the way things ended.

Nope I wouldn't. Sequels are never as good as the original. I really enjoyed the movie and was really happy with it. A prequel - ehh not too sure either.

NO to the sequel.. though i admit if they did go through with it i would still watch it. i just don't think they left a whole lot of room at the end of the movie for non-cheesy storylines for a sequel. i do like the idea of a prequel though!

I will not watch this movie and neither would i watch another sequel. The series was fine, but i didn´t thought that Carrie is the kind of women who needs a ring on her finger. This End of the Movie destroy the feminist feeling of the Show. I don´t like it. Neither i would watch a Movie of Friends or some other show.

Finally saw it today and loved it! I've been so nervous at being let down after all the time elapsed since the series end and all the negative flak I've glimpsed while avoiding spoilers, but it was GREAT! People complaining about it Suck. It really took off where the series left off, but amplified it all just a touch for the movies... plot, locales, drama, wardrobe, etc. I LOVED it and can't wait to have the DVD to call my own. Haters, go watch the 14th cartoon metal-codpiece movie that just came out and just don't watch/comment SATC if you have a problem with it. Just as far as romcoms, this was in the top percentile! SJP, MPK & everyone else involved, thanks for a great 2.5 hours at the movies!

I dont want Carrie to get pregnant... But I would love Big to have a secret love child he doesnt know about... that would so shake up his marriage with Carrie... It seems like something that could happen with Big. californiagirlx7 I love your idea about Samantha, and the part about Steve's mom dying and Miranda trying for another baby. And Charlotte's life does need drama... I think a fight with her and Harry about her going back to work would be just enough.. maybe Charlotte gets jealous of the nanny they hire to help out. But Harry doesn't cheat, just Char gets a little paranoid b/c of all the pain her friends have gone though with similar situations...

I'd love a prequel.... i've always wonder how these girls got together.... I know when we saw the Younger version of the girls at the beginning we were wondering how they met... But Anything after the movie is bad.... I don't want them to break up the happy couple's and the only way to make it interesting is tragedy.... So doesn't one else want a prequel?!

I am a huge, huge fan on the series, but I was soo worried that the first one would be cheesy and/or bad. Since it was great and I LOVED the ending, I kind of don't want another one just because my worries will come back. But, of course, I will be excited and go see it, so..:).

I suggest everyone read the actual books...all of the books by candace bushnell that I have read are great! the characters are well developed and after all, it's what the series was based off of!

If they did a sequel that was better than this movie (which I thought was pretty good, but could have been better) then I would be on board! I would actually like to see Carrie and Big with a baby, as long as the movie isn't completely about that. I didn't necessarily see Chris Noth as a father but now that he is one, I think Mr. Big could be a great daddy. I just hope they wouldn't make the second one so depressing and they could make the girls have more get-togethers. I'm worried though that that they would totally crap on Charlotte's storyline and cause her to have marital problems. Actually, that could be good as long as she and Harry don't cheat or break up. Here's some ideas that I will throw out there, none of them are that great but I'm just brainstorming: Carrie - First half will deal with their newlywed life. Carrie could work at Vogue as columnist full-time, which could coincide with her friends' storylines. I know that kind of seems like a step down from book author, but what else could she do? Besides I like her little columns. Then maybe the second half will deal with a surprise pregnancy, I would be interested to see her in fabulously unique maternity fashion especially since pregnant women don't just wear muumuus anymore. Big would be nervous at first, but eventually come around and slip into the father role relatively easy. Samantha - The Sex and the City movie out right now lacked any real sex from the main characters, so it would be interesting to see a 50 year old Samantha on the prowl again. She would move back to New York City and make the women a little jealous of her freedom as a single woman, but also grateful that they are in happy and (mostly) stable relationships. Run her own PR firm, maybe lust after an actually unattainable movie star around her own age? Maybe run into Smith, who's happily dating a gorgeous costar and feel a little sadness but no regrets? Charlotte - Finds a part-time or full-time job working at an art museum or gallery. Charlotte and Harry go to counseling to work on minor issues in their marriage because they are so busy with their jobs and two daughters, but they don't get a divorce or cheat or anything. Hmmm...I don't know where else you could go with it...I would like to see Charlotte not as put-together all the time, although I really love her style. Miranda - Steve's mother dies, which causes Steve to fall into a slight depression (yeah I'm sorry, more Miranda drama). Miranda and Steve's marriage gets better, though, because Miranda cuts back hours at the law firm, after Steve's mother's death and they decide to try for another baby. Miranda becomes pregnant, but she loses the baby shortly after Carrie announces her own pregnancy (Chessie- sorry I just realized that you said a similar thing in your post!! i guess great minds think alike?). The girls decide to go to the Hamptons to have some girls' only time, Miranda and Steve realize that they are blessed to have Brady. Ugh sappy I know but I don't know else that this couple could do...

no, no, a thousand times no! why do people wanna ruin something that has a proper ending. I would kill for some of my favorite shows to have had real series finale and here is a show that had a real finale AND a movie with real closure and people still want more. But that means messing with the good ending we already have. They would have to create drama for a new movie and spoil the ending we already have. ahhhhh. I can see why movie execs would want it (cha-ching), but I don't understand how fans do.

maybe, while I LOVED the series, and own it -I really really wanted to love the movie, I liked it and would see it again, I will buy it. It needed a better writer, a better director (one for film), the dialogues felt too much like narratives directed at the audience, no one went to work, not enough SEX, Charlotte should be running a Children's Art Group, She, Harry, and Lily should have made a trip to China to get another baby and show Lily her heritage, Miranda should have filed some briefs or went up against Harry's firm, Samantha should have had more clients and a staff - rather than whining over Smith, Carrie should have went on assignment to Paris to cover a fashion house event leaving Big to over indulge in wine, or has a job scandal. They developed real issues in the series and had better conversations between the wit. The men had sappy parts, especially Big - Smith was good. Fabulous fashions. Jennifer Hudson was good, but Carrie should have brought her to Vogue as an intern. Candace Bergen was not good. Do a sequel quickly, but do it better. No baby for Carrie and Big - don't go there. Miranda has hot makeup sex with Steve on vacation, gets PG and loses the baby, Carrie goes on assignment overseas, Smith moves back to NY and he and Samantha get back together - having very hot sex, she ditches the humping doggie
