The trailer for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty just surfaced, and it's colorful and surreal. Stiller, who also directed, stars as Walter Mitty, a photo manager for Life magazine. He's got a crush on a coworker (Kristen Wiig), and he's picked on by a group of office bullies headed by a bearded Adam Scott. While he escapes his daily life through extravagant fantasies, one day he decides he's had enough and he embarks on a real journey. Oh, and Sean Penn also stars . . . in a moving photograph on Walter's wall.

This trailer is surprising on a few levels. Stiller doesn't speak until the end, and we don't actually hear from Scott or Wiig at all. The song is Of Monsters and Men's "Dirty Paws," and it fits perfectly as the trailer escalates from everyday life to illustrating Walter's fantasies with impressive visuals and scenery. I'm really curious to see what's real and what's in his imagination, and I'm kind of dying to see more of Scott with that beard. The movie opens on Christmas day, and you can check out the trailer after the jump.
