By this time next month, the Fall TV schedule will be set. Starting with NBC in a couple of weeks, each network will piece together its programming slate, including which current series will return and which new pilots will get a shot at success. That means it's crunch time for shows that are "on the bubble," with equally good chances they'll get renewed or canceled. The Hollywood Reporter broke down which series have a good shot at returning and which look dead, and a few tidbits jumped out to me as I read its take:
- Good news, bad news at the CW. This line set off a rollercoaster of emotions: "Over at the CW, Reaper is gone, while the prospects for Privileged have improved, and the show is now considered for a possible midseason order." Reaper had been holding its own against American Idol, so I'm surprised the CW would dismiss it so quickly, but at least we've gotten two seasons of it. Privileged definitely seems like it deserves another shot — especially if it could air during one of these extended breaks from Gossip Girl.
- A bunch of shows are really 50/50. Among the ones considered true toss-ups: Chuck (whose chances are said to be hurt by Southland's early success but whose fans are vocal), Dollhouse, and CBS's Without a Trace and Cold Case — of which only one is expected to return.
- Good news for some midseason shows. Even though none of ABC's midseason shows have been blockbuster hits, Better Off Ted, Castle, and The Unusuals are all considered possibilities to return next year. (Cupid, however, seems dead already.)
- Say farewell to . . . In addition to Cupid and Reaper, things are reportedly not looking good for Life, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, or Eleventh Hour.

Please oh please let Chuck be renewed. I also am really enjoying Castle, but I'll watch just about anything that has Nathan Fillon in it.
1I'm really rooting for Chuck, and I'd like to give Dollhouse some more time as a Whedon-ite. I wouldn't mind more Castle either, but I agree with the previous poster who said she'd watch anything with Nathan Fillion.
2Do we know if One Tree Hill will be back (I know im like the ONLY person that still watches that show)
3No! I still watch the show (One Tree Hill)! And it's supposed to be coming back for another season... I really want Chuck back! And I like Castle and Privileged, so my fingers are crossed!
4Although the Hollywood Reporter is saying Reaper is dead, early reports declared a premature death for the show last year too. There has been no official word from the CW yet, and they will never know we want the show to stay if we don't tell them.

5I just started to get into Reaper so I don't want to see it go.
I want Dollhouse to stay. I am really liking that show and I think it is just starting to pick up.
6I would be heartbroken over Chuck and also love Privileged. And Better Off Ted is hilarious! I wish more people would tune in. It's really quite genius!
7It is insane if NBC picks up Southland instead of Chuck. It is VERY much a 10 PM show and should not be aired before that. Not to mention the fact that there is just no comparison to the awesomeness that is Chuck.
I agree with schnappycat, Better Off Ted is really funny and more people should give it a chance. I'll be happy if Privileged gets picked up for another season too. Really, what else does the CW have? Even Gossip Girls numbers are horrible.
8maybe fox should move dollhouse to a reasonable night! like tuesday, nothing is going on on tuesdays!!
9All I care is that Chuck gets renewed!!! It IS one of the best shows on television!
10I have wondered how/if NBC is going to successfully work some of their shows that are definitely more suited for the 10:00 time slot now that Leno will be on at 10:00. I REALLY hope SVU doesn't change!
11Also, I don't get why they bothered with mid-season replacements, knowing they would be losing 5 hours and primetime programming a week. I am liking Southland, but it just doesn't make sense to me.
12i think that we all hope that privileged comes back. it was a great show and it deserves another chance!
13WHY would NBC cancel Chuck? It's the best show on TV right now. The most charming, cute and consistent show in a long, long time.
14I honestly can't understand why is he even in this list.
I don't watch any of these shows every week but Priviledged. Chuck I see from time to time and I have watched a couple Better Off Ted but only because Ellen was plugging it on her show.
15I really like Dollhouse but would gladly give it up to save Chuck.
16I dont watch any of the shows that are getting cut, or might be cut. I have a sixth sense about a show having staying power.
17I can't even begin to say how deeply disappointed I would be if Chuck was canceled. Chuck is THE favorite show in our household and we're all cramming onto the couch every Monday night to watch it. I would gladly give up every other show that I want to succeed if they would give Chuck at least one more season.
Aside from that, I really really enjoy Castle and would love to see more of it - as well as Dollhouse.
18Dollhouse being on the chopping block does not surprise me. I'm still not sure why Whedon agreed to work with Fox again.
Chuck does surprise me. I hope it stays.
19Chuck is a great show in an impossible time slot. Losing 5 hours of programming wasn't really a great idea (and seriously, we need good, smart, scripted shows with all the reality dreck). Chuck needs to come back. Am also loving Better Off Ted.
20Honestly, none of these shows interest me too much...
21Chuck needs to be saved and I really wanted Cupid to go for a full seaon, it was so cute!
22Chuck has GOT to be saved...... it's seriously awesome.
23Awh, goodbye Reaper ! :'(
24I hope Dollhouse and Castle stay and even though there is little chance, I still have a tiny bit of hope for T:SCC, or maybe just really wishful thinking. None of the other show interest me at all.
25i'm really pulling for Privileged...i didn't even realize they could decide so soon on Better Off Ted, but I love it...Portia was definitely missing from the tv lineup...she is fabulous...and the humor is unlike anything else I've seen lately, which, of course, means it's ripe for cancellation
26Sarah Connor Chronicles was one of the best shows I've ever seen. It compares to LOST. Oh well.
27Privileged definitely seems like one of those shows that would have an amazing second season. It already started coming into its own by the end of the first. I hope hope hope it returns.
28NBC would be on my poo list if they got rid of Chuck. it was awesome tonight. and that was an intentional 'awesome.'
29I want privileged to come back, I love that show.
30I really like LIFE. It's a great show. I like Castle and Southland. I don't understand that they would go with Southland which has only had two or three episodes so far. Especially, with Leno taking over the 10:00 time slot.
31Chuck MUST come back! what can we do to make it happen!!!!!?!?!?!
32Please help save Reaper. The Hollywood Reporter is saying it's dead, but early reports declared a premature death for the show last year too. There has been no official word from the CW yet, and they will never know you want the show to stay if you don't tell them.

33Oh come on already!
34Give Cupid a chance!
Life is the best show on television right now! I've officially become the "Life" Online Cheerleader - must-save for NBC.
35Come on, Chuck was getting similar numbers to Heroes, and they renewed that! Save Chuck!

And yes, we do have "Chuck" coming back next year....

37Better Off Ted has completley surprised me and its hilarious, thanks (mostly) to Portia. i hope they give it more of a chance.
38I really like Privileged
39Love love love Chuck and Southland has been impressive thus far. If NBC hadn't made the bonehead move of progamming Leno at 10, they'd be able to keep Chuck. Guaranteed I will NOT be watching NBC at 10 this fall.
40I LOVE LIFE!!! I seriously think it's one of the smartest shows out there. I will be seriously disappointed if they cancel it, but I wouldn't be surprised since the season finale seemed to wrap a few things up.
I wish they'd give it a chance. I love those characters and the plot.
41I really hope Eleventh Hour is renewed. It's intelligent and well acted and did well in the ratings especially for a freshman show. Personally I'm tired of all 3 CSI shows, Cold Case and Without a Trace. Eleventh Hour is a bit quirkier and I love it!
42Life is great. my wife and my favorite show on tv right now. really hope it doesn't get cancelled. I actually also like the terminator series. it's gotten a ton better since john connor character became serious.
chuck stinks. i say good riddance.
