Recap of The Bachelorette, Plus Video of Ali Fedotowsky's Rose Ceremony

Bachelorette Breakdown: Bored Stiff

On this week's The Bachelorette, we finally reached the hometown dates. We usually look forward to this episode, but this time around, it was a total snoozefest (with the exception of the animal morgue belonging to Kirk's dad). All of the families loved Ali, which came as no surprise. The only person who seemed on the fence? Frank! We — Buzz and Très — have been rehashing the events all morning, so read our chat and add your input in the comments.

  • BuzzSugar: I was officially bored by this episode. The hometown dates were sweet but completely uninteresting. Where are the kooky relatives? But Ali seemed completely giddy over every single family — seriously, she could not stop giggling.
  • TrèsSugar: I think Kirk's family counts as kooky! His ability to stay confident around them impressed me. You never got the sense that he was embarrassed, and he really seems to accept and love his family. Can you tell I liked Kirk? Sad to see him go. Especially when Frank couldn't keep it together. He's like a sad stuffed puppy. Maybe that's why Ali likes him — his mopey uncertainty makes him come off as hard to get.

For the rest of our thoughts, and for video of Ali's emotional rose ceremony, keep reading!

  • Buzz: I like your Frank theory. Maybe Ali finds his insecurity endearing, but his constant need for reassurance is really starting to wear thin on me. He didn't even seem 100 percent certain about Ali when talking to his dad about her and complaining about how stressed out he's been feeling. Plus, what was up with him wearing a sleeveless undershirt?! Oh, but you know whose family I loved? Chris L. I would happily welcome his sweet dad as my father-in-law.
  • Très: I just wanted to curl up at Chris L.'s relaxing house on Cape Cod. Definite perk! OK so what about Roberto? I think Ali sprained her ankle playing baseball — why else was Roberto carrying her nonstop? I enjoyed a peek into his family's home, and it's kind of sweet that his dad keeps his baseball trophies — at least it's better than a collection of dead animals! Also, I think Ali handled the "would you sacrifice to support Roberto?" question from Roberto Sr. with grace and without agreeing to be a homemaker in the near future.
  • Buzz: Roberto earned his rose the minute he took the field in his baseball uniform. I think it's clear that he's the front-runner — Ali can't keep her hands off of him! Whereas, with Kirk, Chris L., or even Frank, she seemed more friendly and huggy. My one big letdown for the episode: I really thought that this was the week we were finally going to see the big Frank drama. ABC has been teasing us much too long!
  • Très: Agreed that Roberto is the front-runner, although Chris L. might make a better boyfriend. As for a proposal, I don't think she's there with any of them. Until next week!
