Five Reasons New Moon Might Be Good
Last year's film adaptation of
Twilight was a bit of a
critical disappointment despite being a
box office hit. The faithful flocked to theaters, but some folks new to the story left wondering what all the hype is about.
I'm hoping the next movie in this saga,
New Moon, will be an improvement over the first one when it hits theaters later this year. While I'm sure it'll be huge no matter what, I'd rather it be good! And already, there's some evidence that might be the case. I see some signs that this movie could be a leap beyond the first one both in quality and in entertainment. Here are five of the biggest.

I cannot wait for this to come out!!!! I am also very happy to hear Edward will be in the movies more than he is in the book.
1Yeah I was so disappointed in the movie. Of course I've said everywhere
how much I hate the choice of cast memebers! I think that was a big part of it. I know they can't do the book exactly in the movie but they could at least do most of
it. I thought they cut too much out and they changed things too much. The only cast members I thought fit were Bella, Jake, and Alice. I can't stand Pattinson (whatever his name is). Rosalie
I'm sorry to be mean to the actress, but the character was supposed to be stunning! This actress was definitely not that.
Sorry, not that I'm an authority of what is beautiful.
But, there that's all my thoughts!
2I agree. Rosalie was miscast. I thought Olivia Wilde should have been cast as Rosalie. Or Sara Paxton. But I love the rest of the cast.
3I thought that the cast was fine for twilight....
I agree with Buzz's predictions for how new moon will be better than twilight. The talent behind it looks good, as well more robert pattinson being a scary sexy vampire surely won't hurt =)
4Oh those are good ones Fleur! I would say Olivia more only because she looks more exotic and could pull off b*tchy attitude.
Sara looks more innocent and sweet.
I thought Penn Badgely would have been a great Edward!
5Hey buzz- all you need is one reason why it will be good (not might be) ROBERT PATTINSON!
6People also forget that the Twilight was a very low budget film...though I enjoyed it and did read the book before hand, so it would be less cheesy. You have to remember that.
7I could tell it was low budget.
I thought it did the books an injustice.
But, I'm sorry to be so negative.
When I really like a movie, actor, or book I
get sad when I see people saying ick! Can't help it though. I loved the books and this movie was soooo disappointing to me!
8True they should have waited till they could get everything in order, to make a film as good or so they say as New Moon.
9I think they were just thinking of $$.
They did the same to The Golden Compass. That was
an awesome book! I was so excited to see it too. And left the theater like this
!
10I thought I heard somewhere that though the special effects of Compass were fantastic, the story was flat. I hope the same thing does not happen to New Moon. I am a new fan. I just saw Twilight last weekend and am now hooked. I started reading the books and can't wait for November.
11You know I've talked to a lot of people who read them after they saw the movie and they like the movie too. I think that might have a lot to do with it.
Yes the story was flat on GC! They took out so much of the story I don't know if anyone could understand it. It was more like a bunch of scenes pasted together.
12I was also very disappointed with the movie Twilight. They left so much out. I could live with the cheesy-ness if they would have at least gotten the story right.
13I am in love with Edward. I have watched the movie 3 times since Saturday. I know that is not surprising, esp for a Twilight fan, but I am 30-something. I never was into Harry Potter like this. But it is fun, and it is what keeps me young.
14luv2 I'm 41 so don't feel bad!
I am in love with Jake er, the character! That boy (actor) is
definitely cute but I'll wait a few years before I start drooling.
15I just really hope they dont make this one all disneyish and bright and colourful and crap,I loved the way the first was a little dark and real, well as real as it could be 4 a vampire film, really hope they dont fill it all up with loads of stupid special effects either
16historically some of the best movies have been low budget. remember BLAIR WITCH PROJECT anyone?
i'm really excited about this one - i'm sure that it'll be great!
17Blair Witch Project....(shudder). It is still the scariest movie I've ever seen. Realism is scary! So is getting lost in the woods.
I think this director knows what he's doing and he also knows how obsessed the fans are. He'll do a good job.
18I felt about BWP the same way it was described on Family Guy
Brian: [describing The Blair Witch Project to a blind man]
Okay, they're in-they're in the woods...the camera keeps on moving...uh, I think they're-they're looking for some witch or something, I-I don't know, I wasn't listening. Nothing's happening...nothing's happening...something about a map...nothing's happening... it's over.
[looks around] A lot of people in the audience look pissed.
19ha, ha, shamontville !! VERY funny!
I love the Twilight series and I even liked the movie. Was it as good as the book? No way. They left out too much important stuff - like how Edward and Bella's relationship evolved. That she took care of her father. Things like that. Anyway, I'm excited to see New Moon! I have no doubt that my friends and I will be there for the first showing! (And yes, we are all moms in our 30's!)
20I actually liked Twilight for how cheap and ridiculous it was. I hope the new film won't take itself too seriously..
21i was disappointed in twilight the first time i saw it, but after seeing it more i liked it and just accepted it for what it was...a decent adaptation. it did the job i suppose as i know many people who began reading the books after watching the movie. the movie could have been great though. i agree that it didn't evolve the relationship well enough nor did it showcase what makes meyer's vampires special and fun.
22I think the Twilight casting was perfect for Edward, Alice, Jasper, Emmett and Alice. Carlisle, Esme could have been better, but definitely NO way to Rosalie. She only got the part because of the fruitloop director, having worked with her before on 13. As for Bella, I think if Kristen is directed properly she could be good, but Catherine Hardwick had no control and got too caught up in the whole magic of the film. They could have left out bits like the "animal attack" and the diner, and Bella's mum. We could tell the other vamps were bad as soon as we saw them, we didn't need all the rubbish about the attacks. That only took up valuable Edward and Bella strengthing their love for each other and their absolute need to be together, which I think was missing from the film.
23i dun no y every1 keeps dissing on nikki reed. Shes pretty n i think plays a great rosalie. She can act, and accepted a low budget pay and acted great so unless i see all these ppl that are posting mean things step forward and act they can shut up. These actors went through alot to make this movie for us and we should be grateful.
p.s all those who say nikki isnt pretty are just jealous, bet u couldnt play rosalie:)
24Yes, Nikki Reed is pretty. However, Rosalie is supposed to be the most beautiful young woman anyone has ever seen. I've seen many talented blonde actresses who are far more beautiful than Nikki Reed, and, in my opinion, would have done a far better job of portraying her.
25Also, not to be unkind, but to all you women in your thirties' and forties'--you definitely have the right to enjoy any book you want to, but when women of your age (not saying you're ancient, but you are a good twenty years older than most of the main characters) obsess over the saga, it kind of freaks me out. I'm sixteen, and I can't help but be a little disturbed when I hear about women in their thirties' and forties', married, with kids, talking about how they're "in love with" a seventeen-year-old boy. Sorry, but that's not even legal..
I sure hope they do a better job. I mean, Twilight wasn't terrible but it did not do the book justice at all!
26i agree that Nikki did not justify the Rosalie character..she's suppose to be the most beautiful woman that bella had ever seen/meet..but Nikki did not do justice in the movie..she looks ordinary..but i like her outfits..
i am in my early 30's and like other woman my age and older (than me)..reading and watching movies like this keep us young at heart.it keeps us smile alot..we don't drool on those actors or what, it's just a way of showing that you can still be able to admire and be inlove..that's the most important thing because if you lost that feeling, it won't be easy for us to keep up with all the things that we MOTHERS need to do in our daily lives..taking care of our children( like you 16 yr old anonymous), our husbands, work, etc..etc...this is the only time we spend for ourselves and i think it is forgivable for us to be a "girl" once in a while...and have something to look forward too..
teenagers like some of you here will understand only what we are feeling right now when you reach our age..good luck!
am i making sense here..oh! i love robert..he's awesome.. can't wait for new moon!!!i like et interview....
27You really cant knit a good sweater out of crappy yarn, and the books are crap.
I have already taken them away from my neice and told my sister JUST what these books were about, She wont be seeing this movie either.
28Nivradmitch, you did great! Very good at explaining.
29I'm going to try to explain something about older women really liking Eward or the other guys from Twilight. I don't care how old one gets in years, the mind or essence of yourself never ages. You always appreciate someone who is gorgeous and sexy. You can be a crazy fan, but your common sense tells you that you could never be involved with this person. But hey, how many of you young girls think that in your wildest imagination you could ever be involved with them either? This is what makes stars so wildly popular. You know that you never stand a chance with the, but you can have fun admiring them from afar.
30lol and I could give you 50 reasons not to watch it.
31Lets see... An eighty year old man going to high school and trying to pick up young UNDERAGE girls. Wouldn't that make him some kind of pedophile? Don't you think about this while watching the movie? Just because someone LOOKS 17 or so, doesn't mean they can go back to high school to score women.
Am I the only one who was disturbed by this???????
32Hmm, I could have sworn he was 110.
Anyway,
Yes I think a lot of us thought of that. uh... but nope I don't think it mattered.
33I have not read the books but I did see the movie. I was wondering if they explained why these vampires were going to high school. It seems like the lead guy must have been at least 18 or so (wasn't he in the army?), so why go back to high school? No colleges or jobs they could take at night? Or just stay home?
I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you
34They went to high school because it would be the best way they thought to look normal. They would therefore not cause more wonder and attention.
The oldest wasn't in the army he just looked the biggest. I have to say living in a small mtn
town. Home schooling and not being amoung people isn't thought of as so weird. They actually could have lived somewhere like that easily and not had to put up such a facade. But, oh well.
Aren't a lot of books and movies unrealistic with stuff? It is about vampires and werewolves so I don't think they need to be THAT worried about what's realistic. IMHO.
35You are right. I guess I was over thinking a movie aimed at tweeners. I was just thinking that I remember how outsiders were treated at my high school. They would have been better staying home. LOL
Thanks again
36LOL! Actually I over thought the book just like that. Even though I loved all of them. I couldn't help but to think of how ridiculous it all was.
I thought of the same thing with my HS too. Way way back when!
37I was very irritated with Bella in the book. I thought she was rude among other things. I thought how rude she couldn't take the time to even try to remember everyones names. All the kids who were reaching out to get to know her. I'm surprised they didn't just think she was stuck up. Real hs that is what would have happened. Anyway, I liked her more as the stories went on.
38Clear that if this movie is going to be excellent
39I can't wait for the Twilight hype to be over.
40I'm in love with the idea of the romance. I remember when I was 17. Going to celebrate 50 years of marriage and remember when I met him! Older women still have romance in their souls and you would really be put out with my age 68. My 2 Grannddaughters love it as much as I do at 16 and 23. Great pictures of Rob and Kristen.
41
HappySue!
42I hadn't read the books until after I seen the first movie which I was drug to against my will by my daughters.O.K I cheated at first and skipped the first book. Look I seen the movie...why read the book.At least that was my thought at the time.New Moon was a book to be reconded with.I normally only read legal rulings and case law so this wasn't something I thought I would enjoy.WOW!What a shock. I read the three books by the end of the week. Finally I read the first one (Last of course). Then I went back to the movie with my best friend and I could appreciate the movie. Unfortunately, I don't think Hollywood will do justice to these books. The books are about selfless undying true love, sole mates, loyalty, family, responsibilities over needs or desires and the author threw in an interesting twist. A creature "damned" who chooses to fight his nature. Making a conscious choice or "free will" yet never believing he has a shot at heaven. The heart breaking performance the K.S should deliver should get her an Oscar nomination if it goes by the book. Oh yeah,#32 & 33 read the books again. You both have missed something; that was addressed.
43so who knows what the warewolves are gonna look like i hope they arent gonna make them regular wolves!
44well.. it's like I said!
45I love the Twilight saga i have read all four books and i just loved them..i do believe the movie missed a lot of things..but i still liked it..I just love Edward i think he is so cute..I cant wait for New Moon =)
46any updates coming ?
