How I Met Your Mother has given us a fair share of teases in the past (Ted's engagement to Stella, his wedding dream in this week's episode), but this one may take the cake. The adorable Rachel Bilson is set to to make an appearance in the show's upcoming 100th episode, and apparently it may be more than a cameo.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 100th episode will play a vital (legendary, if you will) role in Ted's meeting of his future wife. Apparently the execs really wanted to take their time to choose the right actress for the episode.
Sadly we won't get to see the episode until January, which means we've got at least three long months to speculate. I've loved Bilson since her days on The O.C., and she quite possibly could make a perfect match for Ted. Would you be excited about Bilson, or did you always envision someone else as "the mother"?

No! I can't see this at all. I still see her playing a high school kid (because she looks so young still!). I can't see her with Ted.

7I like her! She's really funny, which is necessary for HIMYM. We know that the mother will have to be able to keep up with the rest of the gang. Even if she's not the mother though, Rachel would be a great guest star.
8McSquish, I'm with you, I want to be surprised too! When I read the title of this post, I was like, Ugh no!!! Shouldn't have seen it. Hopefully, they won't let the identity of the actress get out like this!

10I had been trying to tell myself that it was actually Robyn all along but I like Rachel Bilson and would like her being the mother.

12Meh.. I think I've only seen her on The OC and on that show, I thought she was kind of awful at acting.

She seems too young and high schoolish for Ted and I don't particularly like her as an actress. Please let her be a sister or a friend of the mother, please please.

16I have a feeling they are trying to throw us off with this one. I am betting we meet the mother at the end of this season, then we have a season of courtship and then the show will probably end.

18it's impossible for it to be robyn for all of you who have been holding out hope for it. in the very first episode at the end, narrator ted says, "and kids that is how i met your aunt robin." so it's safe to say that it isn't robin.
19he also consistently refers to her as aunt robin throughout the seasons.
