Patrick Swayze Passes Away at 57

Patrick Swayze passed away today at home with his family. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008 and his condition took a turn for the worse earlier this year. He was 57 years old. Swayze is survived by his wife, Lisa Niemi, who he's been with since he was 18 years old. Patrick has a very special place in our hearts for many of his movies, like Ghost and Point Break to name a couple, but perhaps most of all for Dirty Dancing. Our thoughts are with his loved ones, and he will be missed.

Death sentence: pancreatic cancer. Lost a "young" bro-in-law (62) who was with my sister (who is disabled with MS)for 42 years. By the time he was diagnosed, it was too late, just like for Patrick Swayze. No symptoms until late stage...SOOO sad.

Sad day indeed that we lose a good man to the battle of such an unforgiving cancer. He will be missed greatly for his movies and dance moves, but I can’t help to think of the cancer that took his life. I just lost my great aunt to the same disease only days ago. It saddens me that it is diagnosed at such a late stage. But the fact that Swayze and people like my aunt who are able to outlive their prognosis is somewhat uplifting. When they died, it was more of an acceptance of the disease. But for those loved ones around having to watch, it has to be one of the hardest things to witness. Knowing that they are suffering and even with the care of a nurse, it is just fearing that their days are coming to an end that makes it so hard. Prayers go out to his family.

So sad..., loved him a lot, been praying for him every single day, glad he is not suffering any more. All the good ones are leaving us, we are living tough times... My prayers to his family. R.I.P. my dearest!

r.i.p. Patrick!, u will be missed deeply. prayers to your family and friends..he held on to as long as he can..he was one of my favorite actors of all time since "Dirty Dancing". he lived a great life, now he's in peace and will god will rest his soul..

this is so sad - i didn't realize that he had been even worse off lately - but at least he's no longer suffering. he fought for a long time and will be remembered with some fond memories.

So young, and he will be missed so much. You couldnt turn around in the 80's and earlier 90's and not see a movie with him in it, and every one of them was memorable in its own way (yes even roadhouse!) He was romantic perfection in tight jeans and a dancers grace and my heart goes out to his wife.
