Music Video: Vampire Weekend, "Oxford Comma"

"Oxford Comma" is one of my favorite songs off Vampire Weekend's self-titled album because it's catchy and laid back and perfect for summertime. The lyrics are funny, too, what with the rebellious stance the band takes on caring too much about Oxford commas (otherwise known as the serial comma. . . sorry, that was nerdy).

Anyway, the video for the song is cool and they shot it in one long, single take (took them 17 tries). Also, it could just be the font style, but this video kinda feels like a Wes Anderson film. To check it out for yourself, read more.

I love love love Vampire Weekend, I do wish that they didn't get so much attention so early, because everyone is already calling them 'overrated', but they deserved every amount of attention they got though. Ezra is amazing! This is by far my favorite song of theirs, and the video suited it quite well. It had a huge Wes Anderson feel, The Royal Tenanbaums approach.

I love this entire album. I am listening to it in the car this week (never change cd's) I always start with this song.

This is one of my favorite Vampire Weekend songs. All their music is good for sunny driving days with arms and feet hanging out the window. I too heard them first on NPR, and so many of my favorites happen that way.

I love this song, and the video totally makes me like it more! VW is totally one of those bands that — shockingly — has measured up to their hype. PS...the bassist? Young Will Arnett.

One of favorite Vampire Weekend lyrics is from the song "M79": "I'll fly across the park Backseat on the 79" - because it's so oddly specific, the M79 referring to the bus you'd take in New York City to get across Central Park via 79th street. Although in reality the M79 hardly flies! :)

See something new every time I watch this video. Loved their video for A-Punk too. Surprises me so much that the band isn't British.

I LOVE Vampire weekend! I first heard them last fall on NPR's All Songs Considered. Their music is so easy to listen to, and I agree- perfect for summer!
