It seemed like the Oscar was Clooney's to lose until Crazy Heart came along, and now Jeff Bridges has left him in the dust. Still, the brilliance of Clooney's performance lies in its subtlety: he packs just the right amount of depth into Ryan Bingham needed to make the character charming and complex instead of obnoxious and shallow.
