If getting a chance to sit in on Oprah is something you've always wanted to do, you'd better start looking into tickets — the queen of daytime talk shows is closing up shop. Winfrey will announce on her show tomorrow that her last episode will air on Sept. 9, 2011. Harpo president Tim Bennett released a statement saying,
"Tomorrow, Oprah will announce live on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history. The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011."
Oprah's show has been on the air for as long as I can remember, and while I'm more of a sporadic watcher, it's hard to imagine the television industry without her favorite things and high-profile interviews with A-listers and beyond. What do you make of this news — will you miss Oprah or is it time for her to go?

Ok, I might be the only one thinking this, but did she have to pick that date? It seems kind of rude to pick the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
1Oh No...! I love Oprah but than again what else is there to talk about!? She has discussed every topic and had almost every headline guest on her show. Maybe it's time pass on the torch, to whom I wonder?
2Whoops. I apologize for my comment. I saw the 9 and 2011 and immediately thought it was 9/11. Ignore my comment...it's been a long day. I didn't think she would be that rude!
3well, isn't she just moving her show to her own Network? OWN aka Oprah Winfrey Network.
4It will not be the end of her that's for sure!
5hmm, 10th anniversary of 9/11?? I think you misread - its on the 9th of September 2011, that would be 9/9 of 2011, not 9/11..
6I think she's great and she has made a wonderful contribution to this world and to people's lives. But I guess we couldnt have her forever! She has the right to retire and resort to live at a slower pace.
I read that she won't be continuing the show on her new network - instead, she'll just be working on developing other shows. Personally, I'll miss it; Oprah might be a little ridiculous sometimes, but her shows were almost always entertaining and informative.
7Finally, this show should have ended years ago. Al it is is Oprah saying 2 words, the audience screaming, commercial break....
8Thank god she stopped being relevant 10 years ago.
9I wonder if this means Tyra will be next? Or Ellen!!
10The only reason why her show is ending is because the network said if she continued the show, she would have to take a pay cut.
I think that there are many more topics she could explore on her show and she's being pretty greedy.
11Regardless of what she does carreer-wise, she has placed a stamp in history. Her name will forever be apart of history. Other than her closing of her show, I think she's making moves for her next stamp in history.
12Oprah is a unique story and everything she touches turns to gold. The impression I got is that she felt that she did all she could do through her talk show and that it was time for her to move on.
