"Office" Fans: Should Karen Stay or Go?

On the one hand, I've enjoyed the addition of Karen as Jim's girlfriend on "The Office" this season; on the other hand, I'd like for her to get out of the way so Jim and Pam can get together already. So what's going to happen in the season finale? Well, that's still an open question. Rashida Jones, who plays Karen, shot a comedy pilot for Fox — but we won't know till next week whether it will get picked up, in which case Karen would be gone for sure. In the meantime, Kristin Veitch at E! is reporting that two different endings are being shot for the May 17 finale, one where Karen stays and one where she leaves. Which would you prefer?

This JUST occured to me (maybe I am slow): What if they give the job to Jim and THAT will be the season finale cliff hanger?! Then next season they'll have him walk in and it will all get explained that he gave the job up to Karen, etc.

I like Karen! I hope if she does go, they don't throw pam and jim together. I really don't like the idea of them together as a couple.

I think she should be a reoccuring guest star, like Jan. Maybe she can get the job in NY and come back every once in awhile to stir things up with Jim and Pam. In my opinion it would be kind of sad to see the tension between Pam and Jim end. I'd like to see them to continue to walk the line. Perhaps Karen can visit the Office with a new male colleague who makes Jim jealous?

I think she's super cute, and I liek the tension that's created by her an Pam having cute moments with each other, ALL THE WHILE... I do agree that I'd love to see more of Jim and Pam togther, but I'm sure it would get old fast. The tension she creates needs to stay.

I do like her character, but not so much as Jim's girlfriend. I've been rooting for Jim and Pam, like almost everyone else, since season 1. It would be interesting to see Karen stay on the show if Jim ended up dating Pam instead.

I like the Karen/Jim/Pam love triangle and I want them to keep Rashida on The Office. But, I'm glad to know if she does leave that she'll have her own show.

She should go and Pam should have a crush on a new guy who starts working at DM. As much as I want to see Jim and Pam together, the show will lose something if they finally do.

Karen is a good girlfriend for Jim. She really likes him and she brings out the best in him. But Jim is still pining for Pam if for no other reason than Karen doesn't always want to participate in jokes against Dwight. I would still rather have Jim with Pam, though.

I love Karen, but I wouldn't be surprised if she goes. I'm not rooting for Pam and Jim to be together either. It frustrates me. I'd be fine if they ignored that whole love story all together. The best relationship is Kelly and Ryan! :rotfl: Keep the comedy coming, spare me the drama.

I am all about JAM, but I really like Karen's character and Rashida, so it would be sad if she had to go all together. Maybe it could be like Oscar who went on an extended vacation and came back a few episodes later. Karen could take a leave of absence from her job when things break up between her and Jim and if Rashida's pilot doesn't work out she can come right back, and if it does, they can just have Karen decide to find a new job. Give the girl some options!

Karen needs to stay because she's a great character...she just needs to break it off with Jim. I want him to get with Pam so badly, but I know once it happens a lot of the show's appeal will be gone :(

I'm with Linda McP. It's like the Ross/Rachael relationship on Friends. Half the excitement was the anticipation of it happening. I like Karen, but I would rather see Jim and Pam together, so whatever needs to be done for that to happen would be my vote, I suppose.

yes, I want her to stay too, but not as Jim's girlfriend, but as his and Pam's friend...they need another quick-thinking-funny person. But if she had to go to see Pam and Jim together...there's no question to ask.

Maybe the anticipation of a Jim-Pam relationship is better than the actual relationship itself. If Karen stays, she helps sustain that tension. For that reason, I'd like to see her stay.

I want her to stay, but not necessarily as Jim's girlfriend. That poor girl. She's really fun and cute, but the world is rooting against her. They should bring in a guy for her to date.
