Ben Affleck stars in and directed Argo, one of the best movies I saw at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. The historical drama about the 1979 Tehran hostage crisis isn't just well-told, it's also highly entertaining, thanks to the fake movie-making subplot (and a collection of great performances by cast members like Alan Arkin and Bryan Cranston). I can't wait for Argo's official release on Oct. 12 so everyone else can see how Affleck has grown as a director (and so I can see it again).
