Number Crunching: This Week's TV Ratings

• Questionable Return. The Return of Jezebel James, Amy Sherman-Palladino's own return to TV after Gilmore Girls, did so poorly with its two debut episodes last Friday that it's a wonder we got to see a third episode at all. The show barely topped 3 million viewers (3.2 million for the first installment, 3.3 million for the second).
• Aw, nuts. Well, it's official: Jericho couldn't get enough footing in its special second season to warrant a third. CBS canceled the show on Friday; its most recent episode on Tuesday drew just 5.8 million viewers.
• Law sentenced. Fox's Canterbury's Law got just 5.7 million viewers on Monday and has since been banished to a Friday night time slot.
• Adams scores. HBO's John Adams miniseries proved that history and popular TV can mix: Its first two installments drew 2.5 million and 2.8 million viewers, making them the network's most-watched miniseries since 2004.
• Guided a miss? The jury's still out on Miss Guided. Its post-Dancing with the Stars premiere got a respectable 10 million viewers — but its following two episodes on Thursday lost a big chunk of that audience, with each episode drawing 6.3 million viewers.
• Dancing all over the competition. Speaking of which, DwtS had a fantastic premiere: 20 million people turned in to the season's first episode on Monday, and 15.1 million of them stopped by again on Tuesday.
• The last laugh. Yay for the return of new comedies! The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother got things off on the right foot: Big Bang got 9.1 million viewers for its return, and Mother pulled in 9.7. Two and a Half Men then got 14 million viewers, while The New Adventures of Old Christine finished the night with 11.5 million viewers.
