When the Golden Globes nominees were announced, I paid special attention to the Best Song picks since I've had Kate Hudson singing "Cinema Italiano" stuck in my head ever since I saw Nine (check for my review next week).
As you probably already know, I'm a sucker for a solid soundtrack. The right tune can make a pivotal film scene, so when one comes along that's a perfect fit, I'm always associating it with its corresponding flick. Think about it: what would The Breakfast Club be without "Don't You (Forget About Me)?" Or as annoyingly overplayed as it was, Titanic's "My Heart Will Go On?" Those are just a few that come to mind, but Dirty Dancing's "(I've Had) the Time of My Life" also tops my list, along with Bruce Springsteen's "Secret Garden" in Jerry Maguire.
I know there are a ton that I'm leaving out, so chime in! What are some of your favorite movie songs?

...... the whole Legally Blonde soundtrack.....
1the soundtrack to the original TWILIGHT movie. i thin that there are a lot of GREAT songs and it's a good mix.
my fav on the sound track is 'leave out all the rest' by LINKIN PARK and my second fav is 'bella's lullaby'
2Most of the ones I can think of weren't written specifically for the movie itself, does that matter?
"Into the Groove" by Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan
3"Wise Up" by Aimee Mann in Magnolia
"Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel in The Graduate
"Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen in Wayne's World
"Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey in Diamonds Are Forever
I loved the Aimee Mann song "Save Me" from, I think, Magnolia. And "Once in a Lifetime" by The Talking Heads for Truman Show.
Other than that, this is one of those polls that I know I have an answer to, but I can't for the life of me think of it
4So many! But the first song that popped into my mind was Michelle Pfeiffer singing "My Funny Valentine" in "The Fabulous Baker Boys." Amazing!
5Come What May from Moulin Rouge is probably my #1 fave, that whole soundtrack is awesome
I think Trainspotting had some of the best choices for songs that really made the scenes (like Lust for Life and Perfect Day), they weren't songs written specifically for the movie but it couldn't be the same without them.
6I love listening to O Brother Where are thou. All the songs on there are perfect for the movie, but my favorite is Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby by Emmylou Harris.
7Philadelphia! I loveee that soundtrack! And Springsteen's song is so hauntingly good!
8the slumdog millionaire soundtrack is possibly the best soundtrack in the history of soundtracks. AR Rahman is genius. hans zimmer's pretty good too.
9Diamonds Are Forever by Shirley Bassey WAS specifically written for the film Diamonds Are Forever!
10And my faves in no particular order:
11The Eye of the Tiger from Rocky;
You're The Best from Karate Kid;
The Glory of Love from Karate Kid 2;
The entire Moulin Rouge soundtrack;
Rufus Wainwright's version of Hallelujah from Shrek;
Regina Spektor's The Call from Prince Caspian;
Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany's;
Eric Carmen's Hungry Eyes from Dirty Dancing;
The Goo Goo Dolls' Iris from City of Angels...
although my favorite movie song of all time is Kissing You from the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack.
The whole Moulin Rouge and Garden State soundracks. Def. have to agree with Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. I also love Doves Cry from R&J.
12Falling Slowly (and the whole ONCE soundtrack)!!
13Moulin Rouge soundtrack is great. I also like the August Rush soundtrack.
