We're less than two months away from the launch of Project Runway on Lifetime, and while part of me won't believe the long-lost season six actually exists till it's on my TV on Aug. 20, the network's PR machine is already trying to whip up some enthusiasm. But while I've generally been feeling positive about the show's move to Lifetime — hey, at least it's airing somewhere — this new ad gives me pause. If Project Runway usually hits at Bloomingdale's level on the glam scale, this promo is more JC Penney. Its message seems to be something like, "Look! Women love Project Runway! All kinds of women! Even some men! It's just a show for regular folk!"
Now, I'm all for Lifetime drumming up even more excitement for the show and getting it some more viewers. And, to be fair, I haven't seen Lifetime's version. But this ad is making me wonder all over again: Will Runway work on Lifetime? Or will it feel out of style?

I think PR will be just fine, but don't expect me to start watching other things on Lifetime. I think if they really want people to give the network a shot, they would just have to change the name at this point. And not something silly like SyFy.
1I'm not sure about how well it will do ... I'm worried , if it's not the same I'll be very sad , I ah-dore PR . If it's all weirded out , count me out .
2I could care less what network PR is on, as long as it's on and they didn't change anything!
3Hopefully! I'll still be watching.
4This ad isn't doing it for me — I mean, come on, the season was already filmed...we all know that...can't they even give us a tidbit of actual footage to get us excited?!
5the guy doing tim gunn is funny
6I disagree Buzz - everybody is already on the edge of their seats excited because it's been so long, and I don't think we need another run-of-the-mill preview that's going to give away what's going to happpen. I like that this ad uses real people and tries to appeal to the Lifetime demographic as well as the already loyal PR fans. besides, just because the marketing is different doesn;t mean that the show will. and seriously, Heidi and Tim are just the cutest! I can't wait...
7I think it'll survive.
8I don't really watch any show because of the channel its on. I watch the show because I like the show... so yah, I think it'll do fine
9I'm excited that I'll finally be able to watch it, instead of just read recaps. I didn't have Bravo, but I do have Lifetime.
10I am scared becuase of that commercial.
11I will watch the show regardless but I am hoping they didn't try to cheapen the show. hmm...now I have to figure out what channel lifetime is on.
It'll be just fine on Lifetime.
12Tim and Heidi are the greatest...
I love love love Project Runway!!!! But I have to admit that Buzz hit the nail on the head when she said that the promo seemed JC Penney. I'm gonnz watch regardless bc The Fashion Show has done nothing for me!
13Tim Gunn will "Make it Work" no matter what network PR is on.
14Ugh! Who cares about these people? I want to see Heidi! And Tim! And some scenes of the competition that will actually reassure me that Lifetime hasn't completely messed up a winning formula.
I'm worried.
15This ad is way too family friendly. Blah. I think Lifetime will just turn it into family fare and thus all the things that I loved about PR will just head out the door. Also Lifetime is not a cool channel. Its this lame channel of tabloid-like tv shows and movies. Who actually takes Lifetime seriously?!! No I won't be watching it on Lifetime. *gag*
16I don't imagine Lifetime's Project Runway will be any worse than Bravo's pathetic replacement program "The Fashion Show". I would HOPE that Heidi and Tim would not allow PR to be watered down ala the typical Lifetime program. I'm hoping Lifetime will use PR as a launching point for improving their other programming. We shall see
17I loved their promo commercial because it had people from all walks of life talking about the show!! Project Runway is popular with so many people...I have been waiting for it to come back for such a long time. I heard its move to L.A is going to be awesome! So close to home! Has anyone heard that Project Runway has chosen FIDM as their West Coast location???Is that true? Because that is really cool! I wanted to apply to the college this fall!
18I love PR, and will continue watching but that commercial was just horrible. Now I'm afraid I'll end up doing episode recaps with my mother-in-law, not cool Lifetime.
19Here is a little "insider" scoop:
201) Half the "real" people on that promo are hired actors
2)Lifetime is aware that if the formula changes, the viewers will leave.
Everything will remain the same, plus a few new ideas that help the show get even better!
I would not worry about the show not to succseed
21I love it and watch it on any channel,See ya August 20th
I don't think anything is guaranteed until we see the show. I think there's a real possibility that Lifetime will "water down" one of the principal elements of the show that have made it what it is: it's edgy.
If we get a sanitized version that's been made more palatable to mainstream America, then it will whither. If they leave it alone and add just a touch or two of something different without turning it into milque-toast, then it should be okay.
I still wish that they'd just left well enough alone and kept it on Bravo.
