Now that New Moon's record-breaking opening weekend is over, it's time to dish on the film. I already gave you my review, pointing out that I think the sequel is better than the original. In my opinion, the film's special effects and acting are far superior than what we see in Twilight, though Edward and Bella's whirlwind romance is better showcased in the first film. Now I'm curious about what you all thought — is New Moon bigger and better than Twilight?

Diane von Furstenberg
I love both!
1I think YES
2I like both, but I think I prefer Twilight to New Moon.
3New moon SUCKS. I loved twilight but this one is so cheesy and stupid! the acting is horrible, that girl kristen doesnt even know how to have a normal conversation and the part where they break up its so fake ! i heard she said she prepared herself for that part, and its so funny coz she doesnt know how to act AT ALL. They made like 3 movies and they called themselves actors... hilarious.
4new moon is better but better then twilight ... twilight is more boring .. but new moon is funny and a little sad ..
5hahaha yeah all the stupid teenagers will say that! GET A LIFE!
6I think New Moon is way better than Twilight. The movie is closer to the book and there is a lot more going on. I think Kristen Stewart looks better and acts better in New Moon. I am hopeful she will be even better in Eclipse. I like that there are more characters in New Moon.
7I like Twilight better than New Moon mostly because I liked Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke's indie, mostly hand held camera style. It was such a fresh approach for a teen movie and provided a nice juxtaposition between the cheesiness of the story and the way it was visually told. Chris Weitz's New Moon on the other hand, is pretentious and taking itself too seriously to the point of ridiculous.
8Anonymous: Not sure where you got your information but Kristen Stewart has been in more than the three Twilight movies. She did 16 movies before Twilight. As for Robert Pattinson he did 9 movies before Twilight. Now I'm not saying either are stellar actors, but to say that they haven't done anything except these three movies is total misinformation.
And no I'm not a stupid teenager before you ask.
9Shes still a terrible actress... and has that i dont give a damn about life pose, its funny.
10I preferred the style, special effects and acting in New Moon. But I truly do prefer the story of Twilight.
I am the same when it comes to the books. So, i am really looking forward to Eclipse.
And to add, I too am not a stupid teenager...try pushing 30 something!
11Ok ok, the stupid teenagers thing was directed to those young or old people who are obsessed with the films and the books and dont actually have a real life, i was in westwood the morning of the premiere and i just thought " how pathetic are all these people thinking ANY of the actors give a damn about them " i mean, its obvious that theyre are doing this for money! and for the record, its robert pattinsons FIRST real movie, and kristen stewart first hit too.
12All the old people and the young obsessed about this... i dont know, i think its not normal. Theres a world out there too... a real one.
I just saw the film and people in the theater were actually laughing in parts that should not be funny..New Moon had barely any music! The score with Catherine H.'s directing was awesome, but NM was lacking.
131000 times more better!
14To the anonymous person who keeps dissing on Twi-hards... Why are you even ON here then?! Why don't YOU get a life? Seriously, if you could care less about it, why are you even on this page?!
Also, I LOVE these books (and movies!) and I am 28 years old! I do have a life (I work, have 2 children, AND attend college!), and I know the story isn't real, but it's still amazing to get lost in a book, sometimes... and there is NOTHING wrong with that!
Furthermore, both Rob Pattinson AND Kristen Stewart HAVE done other movies! Try googling them!!
...Every famous actor has a 'break out' movie that makes them 'famous'! ...They don't just get famous from nothing!!
15You tell them #15!

but I couldn't help but love this movie- the acting the story line and special effects better then the first one.
16I am a 31 year old working mother myself- and I love the books and movies as well as Robert!
New Moon was my least favorite book in the series (WTH is wrong with you Edward Cullen?!
Eclipse was my favorite book so I am so excited to see that on the big screen in June (219 more day but who's counting).
to Anonymous #12.... a real world out there.... yet you are sitting at home on popsugar blogging and b*tching about something that you hate? Why waste your time if there is a "real world out there"...shouldn't you be doing that yourself?
17both movies were awesome but New Moon really kicked butt all around, they did a great job with the sequel. I think the competition will be when Eclipse comes out. I can only imagine the special effects will be multiplied 10x over for that movie. I just hope with a different director it won't be too different.
18I enjoyed Twilight more...
19Where's the 'Neither' option? Both had poor dialogue, low budget CGI, bad weaves, terrible makeup.
20Is Harry Potter no longer a real movie? Maybe you meant his first real leading role, but Little Ashes was pretty good. Maybe you meant blockbuster huge money making movie. Okay you got me there.
I don't know about numbers but I thought Panic Room was a hit movie when it came out. Was it Spiderman, Dark Knight, New Moon big. No it wasn't, but it did decent numbers.
The problem with this logic is that Twilight was never thought to be this huge movie as they were making it. It was supposed to be a small to medium indie. All of the cast was locked into contract to do the series if they decided to make the rest of the movies. I'm sure they renegotiated their rates but I'm pretty sure they didn't really have the option to quit. So to say they did it for the money is a bit off base.
Are some of the Twilight fans a bit crazy? I find the mother's that are oggling Taylor Lautner super creepy, (He's a kid people. Under 17. Jailbait.) but no more than the Star Wars fans who stood in line for 2 days, in costume, to see the The Phantom Menace or the people who dressed up to go the opening night of Star Trek.
Twilight might not be your thing but I'm sure there are things you might go crazy over, and be willing to stand in line for hours for. Tickets to a Hanson concert, a chance to throw your panties at Vanilla Ice, huge sale at the $.99 store.
21Heck I might even join you for a sale at the $.99 store I love cheap crap, allows me to save money for the good stuff.
Actually, I just graduated from a master in college, also am a professional photographer and have better things to do than going to the (hanson?) concert haha
22Anyways.... i do like twilight! I love it actually, i took film classes at college and watch all kind of movies because i enjoy it. Im not against any of the actors, they can do whatever they want, but i just dont get the twimania around the world. Its too much i think, i dont know, you can do and say whatever its a free country, so dont get mad!
Okay the Hanson thing was a joke.
I was just trying to illustrate that every generation or group has it's crazy fans. Check out Comic Con on year if you really want to see crazy, 50 year old men dressed as Spoke or Chewbacca. Now that's scary. It's unusual that people are this crazy over a film and it's stars as this level of devotion is usually left for pop acts like The Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, The Beatles, whomever your generation or group of friends was crazy for.
I personally have never been crazy for people or characters, but I am a gadget junkie, and have waited in line hours for the release of a few of the new Mac releases, or stalked the mailman or UPS/FedEx package tracking looking for some gadget that I ordered.
23Anonymous #22: The obsessions come from the books not the movies. There really aren't that many obsess fans of the movies. Read all four and you will know why.
24I agree that Kristin and Robert r not GREAT actors but they are relatively young actors still learning, experiencing, and growing in their acting abilities. I actually think that Rob is a good actor if you've seen his other films: Haunted airman, Little Ashes, Harry Potter, etc and the next one Remember me--awesome trailer! I kinda agree about Kristin. I've seen about 8 of her movies and she pretty much plays herself because the acting is all the same. Even though her excessive eye fluttering annoys me every time, I still think she's destined to be great because she's not the norm and her uniqueness is what will propel her over time.
I think obsession is okay. Depends on what. THERE R MUCH WORST THINGS IN THE WORLD TO BE OBSESSED ABOUT-- terrorist who obsess about blowing people up. Twilight has encouraged an enormous about of literacy throughout the world and I think it's a rather harmless and fun thing to obsess about. BTW, I'm 33 and my kids are too young to read so I can't even blame them for sucking me into it, lol!
lol. thats ok, i didnt mean to offend anyone, really!
i wasnt talking about 30-something years old who read the books, i meant the 50-60-something crazy ladies who expect someone like robert (hes 23!) to like them! thats just crazy!! and yes, i agree, star wars mania its way over the top, i didnt experience it though. And of course there are a lot of other much worse things to be obsessed about! im just saying, i cant believe how this movies exploded from night to day.
I will say this again though: i DO love the story and i thought the first movie was great, i really like Chaterine H-s directing, the music, and the story itself. I thought New Moon was just a little over the top with the special effects, and the approach of the director.
I also think Robert is a really good actor (not kristen though), i just meant that this is his first big movie and the guy cant even walk on the street without being harassed by some crazy fan. I really do feel sorry for him!
25Well, in Twilight Kristen and Robert actually acted but in New Moon I'm not sure what they were doing. While Dakota Fanning was in the movie all of 10 seconds she kicked ass in that short amount of time. She had maybe 4 lines and with that she really was believable and scary. And I could say the same for Michael Sheen, Aro head of the Volotri. He look like he showed up to work.
26Kristen, Robert and Taylor seemed uncomfortable in saying their lines. And I swear that it seemed that there was some rule that they had to wait five seconds before responding to one another? I think that is what they call bad acting. I loved the books and liked Twilight too but New Moon was not the grand slam I thought it would be.
I voted yes, but I have an opinion that falls more in between. As a stand alone movie, I think New Moon is a little weak - but, as I am a fan of the books, I appreciated the fact that New Moon was a much truer adaptation. I think Twilight was much, much cheesier when it came to the action sequences, and a not very good adaptation. However, the casting was fantastic and there was some other pretty good stuff in it.
27i love the twilight series. but i feel like there should have been different actors chosen for the lead characters. kristen stewart really cannot act and i'm not sure what happened with robert pattinson because normally he can act somewhat better than he did in new moon. i tried to watch the movie like i was a teenager (i'm in my 30s) and realize the audience it was aimed towards but i still couldn't get past the bad acting.
i did like how the developed bella and
her father's relationship. the wolf pack actors were really good and other than dakota fanning the verdict is still out on the rest of the volturi.
28#26 i completly agree with you !
29Everything except the acting was good . Cant wait till volotri get more screen time .
NO NO NO . i'm really baffled as to why everyone says that it is so much better than twilight. i watched twilight again yesterday to see if i was just jaded and seeing even just the opening scene of twilight with the dear and bella's voice over about how she'll die - that one scene was soo compelling that it draws you in immediately. i don't think that new moon had that from the start.
regardless - both were good/great movies so it's kind of a moot point, but i still think that the first one was the best so far.
30New Moon is so much better than Twilight. It's so much closer to the book than the first movie and the acting is one thousand times better.
31New moon is like tofu food, it does the job but not very satisfying.
32i personally enjoyed new moon more (even though some parts dragged). i cannot stand catherine hardwicke as a director, and at least new moon didn't make me feel like i want to throw up with all the shots spinning in the forest. the special effects were slightly better.
not to mention, new moon did a damn good job portraying the volturi. i wish there was more of them. TEAM VOLTURI!
33the chemistry and focus on character interactions in twilight made it more enjoyable to me than new moon. BUT new moon is visually better. But I still prefer twilight
34to me, the dialogue was less corny and overall i liked the flow of the movie better. but i felt that the vampires looked too fake this time around. i'll need to re-watch it in an environment with less screaming to gain more appreciation for it. they'll never measure up to the books. nonetheless, i'm looking forward to the next two films.
35To the poster (s) who find the time to wander into these threads JUST to belittle those who love the Twilight series I say... get a life. Clearly yours is lacking or you'd be much too busy to even THINK about these forums.
36In this day and age of tough times there's nothing wrong with people at ANY age indulging in something like this series. Lord knows there's worse things. Let them step out. Drop the supreme act and move on. You don't wear it well. Nobody does.
NM hands down! LOVE me some Wolf pack! However, Kristen could've been a bit more persuasive in the scene where Edward leaves Bella. I expected DRAMA, but she didn't deliver. Overall it was a good movie -n- tops Twilight.
37To the Anonymous idiot who keeps dissing. Seriously, at least people find an interest in something and are enjoying it. Perhaps, you have an empty life so you feel the need to spread your negative crap hoping to better yourself. How's that working for you? By the way, I'm a proud Twilight Mom turning 40. I work and raise 5 kids and I have a life. You are either jobless or at work not working, again posting your hate messages.
38i personally think, twilight was better, in the first place, cause music in twilight was soooo much greater and thrilling, and was so coordinated with the scenes, love, hate, sadness, each part of twilight had its personal soundtrack, and i f u google twilight soundtracks, everyone just, couldnt let the music go. Like this song "bellas lullaby - carter burwell", i mean i couldnt forget the part when bella and edward are in the treetop and de river besides them, its just, fantastic. I think the thing that made twilight so famous, more than the action and vampire/werewolf story, is "LOVE" ; the stuff that makes u loove twilight is the shocking scenes of love and need of bella to edward and vice versa.
. Cheers to everyone. Heres my comment.!
39Full moon is great, i mean, jake and bella, verything is just fantastic, but nothing, i repeat, nothing, like twilight. =(( . I just hope twilight directors, scriptwriters, and editors, consider the part of adding "bellas lullaby" to the next film =(, and focus again, in the lovestory between the vampire and the human, and all the things sorrounding them.
i think twilight was so much better than new moon. rob and kristen put more feeling into twilight. it just seemed like they were faking in new moon. they just didn't give it their all.
