Neil Patrick Harris in Talks For Lead Character in Smurfs: The Movie 2010-03-04 11:30:07

The legen — wait for it — dary Neil Patrick Harris is all over the place these days! Not content to confine himself to ladykilling Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother or future game show host, the actor is taking on a family friendly role: NPH is in talks to play the lead character in the Smurfs movie.

Sadly, the role is for a live-action part, so no, Harris won't actually be a blue smurf with a big white hat and gloves (unless Barney has a wild hair to act out the part of Papa Smurf for a lucky lady). Not much else is known about his character, but I'm guessing it'll be along the lines of Jason Lee's Dave in Alvin and the Chipmunks, especially since the Smurfs producers said this movie would be just like Alvin, in terms of the CGI/3D presentation.
